Well it finally happened folks. The suppliers and my job have made it impossible to keep making the Sop'n Sauce. I am now away from home 3/4 of the time working the oil patch. The jar manufacturer quit making the drinking mugs and FSA quit carrying some of the ingredients for making the sauce. To add salt to the wound the postal service raised the rates for the forth time in two years! The boss lady said pull the plug when she found out how much I spent sending sauce to the forum members last year. OUCH!!! :o Hopefully things will turn for the better down the road but for now a pause is in order. We will try to work things out for everyone soon. Sorry for the hiccup folks. :(
Regards; Pat and Ann
Iceman,
I'm sorry to hear that, but I understand. Let us know if things improve.

I fully understand. But to tell the truth, we downscaled our smoke cooking for various reasons recently. Just happened. But at least I got 6 jars unopened to enjoy when we do. we only now use it on Ribs and Brisket. Which is getting longer in time to cook. If I had time and skill, I would offer to pick-up the effort, but I barely know how to boil water and still can't do rice without a rice cooker. Wife laughs at me for that. Sure I can do stuff on the smoker and grill and blackening and a few things on the stove. But not much more than that. Good luck with work and life and make sure to hang around when you do have time.
Sorry to hear that, Ice but fully understand. My meatloaf, fattys and pulled pork will miss it dearly. Best of luck to you!
Pat,
I am so sorry to hear your sauce is no longer available but I want you to know how appreciative I am to have gotten an order from you. Once we opened the first jar Jan and I knew how special it was and have savored every drop. We have one mug of sauce left and that will be used for only very special occasions with very special friends.
All the best to you. Should you have the opportunity to manufacture the sauce in the future, I for one will be more than happy to pay the shipping from Wasilla AK to Paducah KY.
Larry & Jan
Pat,
The fact that you did it for so long for so many speaks volumes about the kind of people you and Ann are. Many thanks for what I have already received. Should I ever win the lottery, I will pay you to quit your oil field job and go to making sauce full-time. The world deserves a sauce as good as yours.
Marc
I too am sad to hear that Pat, and it is understandable especially with the economy and costs. If you ever do get the opportunity to make the sauce again, I will be in need.
Completely understandable. I just happy that I had the chance to try it and thank you for making it available for as long as you were able.

Sorry to hear that you can no longer make the sauce available to us. You and Ann have been very generous to me and other forum members. I hope your future plans for the sauce are successful.
QuoteYou and Ann have been very generous to me
Ditto for us as well Pat, really appreciate the lengths you went to to get sauce to us. Sorry it is on hold for the timebeing but I am sure everyone will understand.
Very sad but totally understandable Ice.
and I'm with KY - if you ever decide to ship again I am more than happy to pay whatever it costs so you are making money.
I am now going to hide the remaining sauce from the kid. ;)
Deb
Thanks for your past efforts, kindness, and friendship. You both are a class act, and I for one appreciate all you have done. I wish you only the best as you approach the future.
Bill
Sorry to hear that Pat. You folks are great and have done much for all of us on the forum and I personally thank you for what you have done for me. I have not smoked much lately for a number of reasons and still have 3 jars of your sauce. I totally understand your position and totally support it. Please try to keep posting on the forum when you have a little time.
Pat & Ann
I am sure that the forum members understand. The economy has hit us all where it hurts. I have a few jars of sauce left and will only use in case of emergency ;D
Thank you so much for making your great sauce.
nepas
Same thing here. Down to last jar of liquid gold. Will use for extremely special occasion only. Thanks, Pat, and hope you enjoy at least the remaining 1/4 of your time outside the patch.
I am kicking myself right now!! I didn't have an opportunity to order any sauce from you Iceman... my loss.
I suppose I am in denial too... there is no way the sauce was any good! :) j/k of course.
Maybe we can figure out a way to get you some of that stimulus money!! With all the pork in there they will most likely need some sauce to go with it!!
BB
Didn't think you could make the sauce any better but you just did....you made it impossibly rare! Glad I still have a few jars left but even more glad that your reason is BECAUSE of a job and not LACK of a job!!
Bummer for us, but perfectly understandable at the same time. We still have a couple jars left, so we will bring them out for special occasions.
Hi Pat,
Well, bummer! I saw in your original post that this may be a "pause". I, for one, hope that perhaps down the road you may decide to go back into production. Add up the costs, add your profit and toss a number out there - i think you'll have some business! It has to work for you. I am certainly willing to pay premium for a premium product!
Thanks for your generosity.
UGH!!!
Am down to my last jar and was getting ready to order more :'( :'( :'(
These are sad days indeed.
Pat - THANK YOU for making the sauce available to all of us. It truely is the best!
IF you should ever make it available again, I would be more than happy to also pay shipping.
IF you were ever to decide to sell or share the recepie, I might be more than interrested.
Hang in there and I hope you and Ann fare through.
What about your amazing rub, is that gone too?
Scotty-G
Sorry to hear this. However, it is understandable.
You are one of the best online folks I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
I truly hope this is a pause and not an end.
Steven
I thought I had already responded to this. Thats what I get for thinking. Ice, we fully understand. I tried something quite different but possibly a similar situation. I took what was a hobby and started comercializing it to help pay for some of my expenses. What happened was that the hobby turned into work. I decided one JOB was enough and sent the hobby back where it belonged. I will let you know that I enjoyed both your sauce and Oinker Rub and will always consider you the man. Take time to enjoy your family and don't allow work to take priority over them.
Thanks for all the input folks. Hopefully this is just a pause. Work has been both a blessing and a curse lately. Lots of friends layed off in the field and my promotion is killing me with hours. Average has been 90 to 100 hours a week on a 3 and 2 rotation. All I seem to do for the first few days home is sleep!!! Then it's catch up on honey does and fly back up to the slope to work. I promise when time permits Ann and I will take care of you folks and get some sauce down to you. Harvest Company and FSA are not working on supplying us any longer with mugs and ingredients so we will have to re group. I'll keep you posted for sure. Take care everyone and keep the smoke rolling for me. ;D
Thanks for the update, How long do ya figure the sauce will last unopened? , I'm getting ready to leave to go up north soon and was thinking about leaving a jar or 2 here in Fl for about 9 months.

ADEC said at 65F in a stable temp and pantry type environment well over a year. Never lasted that long for me though :D
I got 3 1/2 jars left. :'( Used 1/2 jar two nights back on ribs for Mother.
However, when I first read this posting I went on a search. I found that by taking the standard Cattleman's BBQ sauce and added some red pepper it will allow me to "get-by" until you can get back into making your sauce.
We all understand.
Olds
Pat: we have a massive get together this weekend and I think we'll have a "viking funeral" for the last of the Soppin' Sauce. Thanks for sharing this great treat with us.
Take care

I'm sorry to hear that Olds, but Cattleman's is
nooooo substitute for the iceman's sauce :(
My wife and I were cleaning out a cabinet where I keep cook books, spices and sauces and behind a set of narrow recepie books was a pot of gold - 2 unopened jars!!!!! :) :D ;D
They must have been pushed back there as other things were loaded in front of them.
Still :) :D ;D

I'm saving my jars of sauce. Now i use Carolina Treet sauce.

:'( :'( :'( I too was about to place an order. We will miss the sauce and will await its hopeful return. Thanks for all you had sent us in the past. I still tell friends the story of how you just send it out on faith and expect a check in the mail. That level of trust is not very common anymore. Good luck in your carrer Ice and I hope things settle down a little for you.
Thanks again!!

I have an order Carolinina Treet coming in this week and I hope my meatloaf and fatty's will survive the loss of Icemans Sauce!

Well it was a fun trip while it lasted.
Thanks very much for making your sauce and making it available to so many of us. It was a real treat and fun too.
I've still got my apron so it's all good.
Let us know if you go into production again. I'm sure you'll be overwhelmed with orders.

Hey guys, in case you didn't see it, I have a few jars of this LIQUID GOLD that is available for you to get your hands on.
