Title: Steelhead????
Post by: KyNola on February 28, 2009, 03:11:35 PM
At Sam's Club today, next to the salmon fillets they had beautiful steelhead fillets.  Can someone help me with this?  Would you do them with Kummok's recipe for salmon?  Is the taste and texture pretty much the same as salmon?

Your advice will tell me if I'm going back to Sam's tomorrow.

Thanks guys and gals.

I have used Kummoks recipe using steelhead and it came out great. The taste was a little different because the fish is different, but it was real good.

I've bought some of that steelhead, tastes like farmed salmon. I have not used kummok's recipe on it.

I'm going to Sam's on Wednesday, I hope my club has steelheads. If I can get those fillets I would use Boutch's Smoked Trout (http://www.susanminor.org/forums/showthread.php?t=445) recipe.

Habs,
Thank you for the suggestion and the link.  That sounds really good.

I went to Sam's today and looked at it.  What is the better of the two?
