Title: 4 Rack or 6 Rack
Post by: WanaSmoke on March 20, 2009, 05:17:07 PM
I see the heating elements are the same in both units.  I also read someone said they had a hard time maintainiing 190 temp in a 4 rack.  So will the six rack work properly.
Which one should I get?  New to smoking first one.  PLease help

Wanasmoke,
Boy, I'm not the expert here compared to some of the others, but I will offer this.  I had a OBS (4 rack) a few months back and just recently expanded to the DBS (6 rack) smoker.  For the most part, I have not seen much difference if any, in either smoker, with the exception that the digital smoker is easier to set and use.

I have no issues holding 200+ in the 4 rack OBS.

I have no need to maintain any more than 225, which is difficult with a full load.

Bradley's are not speed smokers.

The Four versus Six is more about capacity. If you need to be able to do six pork butts at a time, get a six. I would rather have 2 four racks for a total of eight  ;D
