Title: Smoked Salt
Post by: Leifostberg on April 05, 2009, 11:31:15 AM
I have been interested in smoking salt, it is a wonderful spice, and it is very expensive to buy.  I found the following link if anyone is interested:

I have not tried this method yet, but my first try with 4 hours smoke was not great.

Please let me hear if anyone has tried this.

Regards,

Leif

Interesting link Leif.

I've tried smoking salt before with limited success. I like his idea of putting the salt on a screen, then foiling the rest of the rack to force the smoke through the salt.

I haven't tried that method yet, but I've been to that site before. That link was posted in the thread I had mentioned that had the long discussion on smoking salt. So the thread you mentioned earlier was not the thread I was referring to. You should look for that thread, because it had some interesting ideas.

Also Part I (http://www.chilefire.com/posting-detail.asp?Post_ID=82&Recipe_ID=) has a lot of information also.
