I won't be smoking for a while, I have tons of leftovers in the freezer, but.......... ;)I've said that before!
I wasn't sure if the boys would like the eggs. I went through 24 eggs for 8 guys ;D. Glad they did not stay the night ;)
Lumpy
Congrats Lumpy! 8)
Wow ! :o That's a spectacular spread you put on there!
The only thing missing is.... me! :D
Mike
Amen Brother!!!! That is one impressive spread for "The Boys". I myself didn't see one blurry picture at all. Must have been the drool factor overriding the blurry.
The blurry pics were of the abt's when they were finished. Camera in one hand, abt in my mouth and beer in the other hand.......just too damm busy ;D
thanks guys!

Please tell Us More about the Shrimp and Scallops and the marinade prcoess this sounds Good.
Also do you NOT use your water bowl? Looks like the pucks just fall onto the foil lining and turn to ash.
I was in a hurry to take a picture of the ABT's while the smoker was nice and hot and the reason the water bowl was not in the smoker yet.........my hands were full. Right after I put in the ABT's came the bowl of very hot water.
The ashes on the bottom pan came from the left over from my last smoke that I did not use Bubba's and had ashes left on the slider.
As far the shrimp, I marinated them for 24 hours in a vacuumed packed container with what I call my margarita mix (tequila and lime mix). I used the same process with the scallops (bay scallops) except I used Absolute vodka.
Both were extremely tasty and in both you could taste the hootch ;D. If I were to change anything, the next time I would not use vodka. It gave the scallops a little bit of a bite to them. Next time i might use a vodka with fruit taste to it.

Thanks Lumpy for the info on the shrimpa and scallops. I wasn't trying to bust your chops on the water bowl just curious.
I never noticed the missing bowl in the picture until you pointed it out.
Good thing though...there might be some FNG's out there that think some of us smoke without the water bowl :D
Lumpy
I have to repeat the comments made before. WOW, what a spread, looks great!

Hey lumpy, one more "awesome" to add...!
... I'm always on the lookout for a new and improved BBQ sauce, still haven't settled on one to call a regular... you mentioned that your homemade BBQ sauce with the brisket was the best you ever made, care to share the recipe?
I need to dig it up.
Give me a couple of days.
Lumpy
No problem... can PM it to me if you want, although I'm sure others would also love to try it out too.
Lumpy.... PLEASE, PLEASE... where do you live ??? I would even buy the beer, that spread is awesome. You sure know how to treat your friends. Oh, you could shame many of us. And the next boys weekend ( me included) is when ???
Sorry for the delay but here is the BBQ sauce that I used and everyone thought was great.
It turns out that it was not my sauce but one from Karen Putman's book called "Championship BBQ secrets for Real Smoked Foods"
I have used a lot of recipes from her book and think that the are all great.
Its called "Kansas City-Style BBQ Sauce"
4 cups ketchup
1 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup soya sauce
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup fancy molasses
2 tbsp dry chili powder
2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
In a large sauce pan combine ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, 1/2 cup water, soya sauce, molasses, chili powder, mustart, allspice, cayenne and black pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally for 45 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
Enjoy ;D
Lumpy
Thank you Lumpy, I will give this a try it looks great.
This has been my "go to sauce" I always make sure that there is plenty in the fridge.
Lumpy
Thanks Lumpy i'm going to try it also ;D

I'm going to make up a batch myself.
Hey guys (and ladies) did you notice something that Lumpy didn't mention and left out.
The address to the party........
Excellent, thanks for posting it Lumpy...!
Thanx Lumpy..... that sauce goes "ditto" for me as well..... mmmmmmm ;D
Hi Lumpy,
I've been a slight victim of missing the trees for the forest (or whatever that darned metphor is :)).... the meat was lookin so good that I completely overlooked your "dessert"! I'm REAL interested in those eggs, as I do a lot of home canning/pickling myself. I make a lot of pickled onions, have done eggs once or twice... but never even considered smoking them first. I was browsing through this post again and realised that must be what you've done! I've got my big annual "kick off the summer" BBQ coming up in a weeks time and I've been trying to work out what to provide for the couple of vegetarians I know (I know... like bringin' a knife to gunfight... and more of those darned overused metaphors... who brings a VEGETARIAN to a BBQ!!???) But nevertheless, I do need to feed 'em.... I have a reputation at stake!
What recipe did you follow for the eggs.... did you brine them first? What kind of pickling solution (malt vs. cider vs wine vinegar etc.)
Do share!
Ok... think I may have answered my own question. Couldn't find anything on the recipe site, so searched here and came across Habs recipe in this post:

Gonna do up a couple dozen this weekend.... taste test next Thursday or Friday and if they pass muster (and why wouldn't they ;)) they'll be on the menu next weekend!
TD;
I know a lot of vegetarians that I invite to my cookouts. Just google vegetarian barbecue or vegetarian barbeque. You will be amazed of the hits you get, and there are tons of ideas. Smoke/grilled eggplant is always a big hit.
Smoked Portabela mushroom burger.
Yup.... portobello mushrooms are almost always on the menu anyway for me too.... love 'em.
Just came across a vegetarian version of "Pulled Pork"... which of course sounds like an oxymoron... but as I am serving the real deal to my carnivorous friends, I wanted to try to mimic it as closely as possible for my veggie friends. To be fair, it actually doesn't sound half bad, check it out:
Vegetarian Pulled Pork (http://vegangelicalsouth.blogspot.com/2008/02/ive-got-your-pulled-pork-right-here.html)
I am writing this from my workplace... which happens to be about 200 yards from a famous Bangladeshi/Indian area of London called "Brick Lane" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_Lane) where I can get pretty much any Asian ingredient known to mankind... so shouldn't have too much difficulty finding a can or 2 of Jackfruit! If any of you are wondering why Brick Lane might sound a bit familiar, it was the name of a bestselling book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brick-Lane-Monica-Ali/dp/038560484X) a couple of years back, that then got made into a film that some of you might have seen.
