Title: pucks advance and timer not even
Post by: Toker on May 22, 2009, 02:26:15 PM
Hi i have an obs and yesterday i decided to cold smoked my home made bacon. What i did, is i let it preheat for 1 hour and i applied 5 hours of apple wood. I just plugged my smoke generator cord to a digital timer to check if the puck advance timer was wright and the whole cycle ended at least 10 minutes before the time it was supposed to. (1h for heating and 5 for smoking = 6 hours total) when i did it, i just put the wood in the chute not on the burner, so i imagine i took 1 hour for the 1st bisquette to get on the burner. So could someone explain me the 10 minutes difference please. Thanks.

Hi Toker

The timing unit in the smokers does not advance exactly every 20 min in can vary + or - plus it does not take into account the time it takes for the motor to make 1 revolution
therefore over long periods of running you can loose minutes.
