Summers Last Blast Iron Chef Bradley!! Its the last part of summer, so why not something different? For this ICB there is a twist. There will be 2 meats to choose from and 4 others. Picture turn in will be Sept 5-6 voting will be Sept 7-11. This ICB will be for Bragging Rights since it is a departure from the norm. For the new members the ICB is open to every registered member of the forum. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, we will do our best to get them answered. When it comes to the smack talk don't take anything personal it's all in fun!!!
AS A REMINDER FOR EVERYONE
Basic Iron Chef rules:
Be creative on your recipes.
It can be as simple as a new ABT or a recipe that would take a snooty waiter in a fancy-schmancy restaurant 10 minutes to describe.
At least 80% of the cook time must be done in the Bradley Smoker, grill or other outdoor cooking method. Up to 20% of the cook time can be done on the stove, oven.
Use any spices or pre-made BBQ sauces, or other goodies as you wish.
The recipe is not limited to just the 3 main ingredients. Your pantry is open and anything is fair game to be used in your recipe. As long as the meat and two other ingredients are in one dish. ie...one bite gets all three ingredients.
It can be breakfast, brunch, lunch, or supper, or midnight snack.
The Ingredients: You must use one meat and two of the other ingredients. Your choice of what you use!
The Meats are: Pork Loin or Sausage (Bulk or link)
The Others: Zucchini, Tater Tots, Oranges, Dates

And you won't see an entry this time, either. Going to the mainland for a few weeks soon and have about one "smoker day" before then reserved for cheese and a couple of other odds and ends (like maybe replenishing my ever-dwindling Tasso supply). Also, I'm pretty much a "savory" guy when it comes to meat - have no idea why I'd want to add oranges or dates to any protein dish (and don't consider Tater Tots as food at all).
But please - keep those cards and letters coming!

I don't have a dog (or pig) in this fight but I'd have to guess you're making your own sausage since pork shoulder is not a listed ingredient (unless it came from a very short and severely deformed pig).

Now if that aint sucking up I don't know what is!!!! There is more than just Brian and Wade at the head office. I know Brian has been busy and I am sure Wade is as well. But the rest sure have a chance to get some down time and should be able to join in.
Besides you have to Rock the boat and rattle a few cages every now and then to make life interesting. Like the saying say's "If your not living on the EDGE your taking up to much space!!!"

You can only do 20% of your cooking inside on the kitchen stove. The rest must be done on an outdoor cooking device.

Yes Carolyn them is shrink wrapped Zucchini and I aint sure they is organic or not. I had to get them at the store thats th eonly place I could find them that small. Most of the ones around here have a 5-6 in Diameter and are 24-30 inches long with all the damn rain we been getting.

When your posting highlight what you want in big font then click on the A with the arrow next to it. It will default to 10pt mine is at 30pt so just change the 1 to a 3. Easy Carolyn

Brian thanks for the offer of help, I appreciate it....ya'll all need to just resign now... i made one yesterday and one today...no smoker yet just on my grill....i'm tryin to think how ya'll can compete with a crazy cajun... I'm in...all i need to do is learn how to post pictures....geez

Wouldn't be the first time a Newbie won an ICB. Don't worry about only using the grill. I do believe it says "80% of the cooking is done in the Bradley or other outdoor cooking device".

Don't worry about cooking it on the grill as long as it's outside, I cooked mine almost completely on my grill.

Back to being serious, I have been thinking about it and since several of those enjoying some Smack Talk and generally fun razzing of each other have stated they have completed there ICB entry. I will open the Turn-In thread early. I know there is at least one that wouldn't be able to post during the posted turn in time period. Arrangements had been made to make sure the entry was going to be there.
The voting will still be the 7th through the 11th of Sept. For those not familiar with the ICB's Please REFRAIN from posting in the Turn-in Thread until the Voting is complete.

Ok Folks I know there is more than just 4 people entering the Iron Chef Bradley III. Remember that the final Turn in day will be Sunday. My JBDBS found its way to my house today. I am doing the break-in as I type. That is a beautiful lil man. Am really impressed so far. Even the pkging was top notch. I set my oven temp at 150 like it called for but it is showing 185 in oven. Guess that is normal. Guess I'll do my goolash tomorrow. guess i missed the thread where the turn in date was changed, no problem now.

Glad that was straighten out. I make fresh bread and rolls on thursdays for the weekend. I had already activated my sourdough started so now i can breathe a little. I have a starter than I got from my mom that was started by my great grandmother in 1860's. Have an old couple down the road that might die if they didn't get thier sourdough bread every week. Plus time to play a little with my smoker.

Carolyn, All I know it is from my dad's grandmother....it might be older than that really not sure. My mom is high 80's and makes bread twice a week. I have three sisters and none of them are interested in it and sure what cousins etc have some of it. my dads ppl are cajun/scott irish from Louisiana.I saw online you can buy a started from King Arthur flour they say is from 1700's. That would be kewl to have but i have two, this one plus mine.

makes great pancakes. I have to build my starter up around deer season. We make something out of it just about everyday at deer camp. Don't think I have shoot a deer in 8 yrs. Two yrs ago I forgot my gun at home. I go to cook, drink whiskey and tell lies.

Tim, I just smile and tell her how much I missed her. She hates me anyway so...... I have two boys that hunt with me and if they want to shoot something then, kewl. It is just my time to have fun. This yr I will take my camera and laptop with me and post pics. Last yr I stayed 48 days out of a 62 day hunting season. When I come home, I open the door and throw my hat in....wait 5 minutes...if it doesn't get thrown back out ,I them proceed into the house..

A total lack of creativity if you ask me. I mean look at my entry. I basically had to reinvent the wheel. It takes a lot to try and achieve the utter perfection that the ABT has. BUT I sat down looked everything over and got CREATIVE with my cooking. WAIT A MINUTE that's it. Women just can't get creative when cooking they just make the same things over and over again. We as men except this, so when asked "What do you want for dinner?" We just reply "Whatever!!" since we have already conceded to the fact that to explain something Imaginative is a mute point. Women always reply with the same thing "If you want that your gonna have to make it yourself!" Women just don't have the CREATIVE gene when it comes to cooking. Now they can put it on a pretty plate and take cute pictures of it. When in reality its just a plain ol dish dressed up to look pretty and trying to unsuccessfully impress the Men.

WTS...my sons did some work at A&M two weeks ago and they meet the pit master there. He gave them a hugh sack of jerkey and his recipe for ribs.

Only difference was he was smart enough to make an awesome looking BACON Weave and wrapped that around his pork loin. You still have a few tricks to learn from the old Dogs around here PUP!!

It may look like one but Taste is everything. It tastes better than the name. Which as I stated before came from the Atomic Buffalo Turd (ABT) I just reinvented the wheel.
I have bad news. I am going to have to withdraw what would have been the winning entry. Not only did time get away from me and I didn't get the parts and pieces rounded up, my store got broke into last night. Fortunately, they didn't get anything. Looking for cash, but I had cleaned out the registers a few weeks ago.
On the positive side, my buddy was here a little bit ago to wrap my legs for me, and he said my color looked really good...better than he's seen me for a while. Also confirmed what the PT department has been telling me about the wounds...they're looking GREAT.

Actually, what they had to go through once they got through the window was almost better than S&W insurance. Bunch of rebar stood up in a bucket, couple of pitchforks with the handle down, crap all over the place that they had to get over.
I can safely say this because I know it will never happen, but I'd like to be in a little better shape and have five minutes alone with the perp(s)...wouldn't need any weapons, my hands would be enough. I'm actually taking this a whole lot better than I thought I would be, in fact, I'm almost laughing about it. I suppose because they didn't get anything.

I think they could be added back.
If they came up again, even in the same combo, I think it would make it an even more difficult ICB because inventive things have already been done with these ingredients in this ICB.
