Well. It seemed a bit daft to buy some when I have the means to make my own.
By the way as a word of caution. If you do use aluminium pucks be careful because they stay very, very hot for a long time after cooking is finished..

Many of us already know about that, unfortunately we've learned through experience [:0][:D]

Right-on Peter! For those that have the tooling capability, I agree that "daft" is the appropriate word to describe them buying Bubba Pucks. The pix show pretty much how the BPs are lathe machined. Then they're tumbled to remove burrs and sharp edges. Finally, Obi-Wan Kenobe conducts a secret ceremony with each batch to ensure that they produce exceptional quality smoked product....let's see you duplicate THAT, lathe-boy [;)][;)][:D]

I also have to agree on the burned finger-tips....you'd think that, as the maker of the BPs AND a 35 year experienced firefighter, I wouldn't do a bonehead thing like pick up the puck BEFORE it cools. But, NO, puck-boy had to learn the hard way too![:D][:D] The guy watching me just HAD to ask, "Whassamatter, izzat hot?", to which I curtly replied, "Nope...just doesn't take me long to look at a puck!"[;)][:o)]

35 years of extinguishing smoking stuff and now I'm wondering WHY!

Knew they are hot...in situation of burning my fingers last week myself....duh!

I needed, for some reason, to take out the pucks and start some more smoke on another project in the other smoker....duh!

I now have another set of 3, thanks to Chez Bubba's expedited shipping!

Ok, I Confess.. The only reason I posted this thread was that I burnt my fingers in the first place..Lesson learnt!

What's that old saying . . . Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement?  Yeah, I've burned my fingers too . . . [:D]

I would have liked 3 pucks instead of two. Its like buying a 10 pack of hotdog buns and getting only 8 dogs. I am going to try to come up with a disk of some kind for #3.

PG,

I apologize if you didn't know we do sell 3-packs for $21.95. We don't have it on the website because we've only sold a few in comparison to the pairs. Send us $7.95 + $4.00 shipping & we'll send you out another one Priority mail.

Or, you could load one more wood puck after the Bubba Pucks & accomplish basically the same thing.
