Title: Smokin shrimp
Post by: _Bear_ on October 29, 2010, 06:06:51 PM
Went to Costco to buy some cheese to try out in the smoker, while I was there I spoted some  very nice looking shrimp. It would be pre cooked large cocktail type shrimp. Is it worth trying to smoke this?? I am going to cold smoke a load of cheese (my first time) and I thought I might throw in a rack of shrimp as well. Is  this a good idea or am I just going to poisen myself ? Cheese is Old Cheddar, Mild Cheddar,Farmers cheddar, Monteray Jack and Gouda.

I suspect the pre-cooked shrimp would dry out/overcook.  Probably best to wait and use raw shrimp (?).

I have put pre-cook items in a wet paper towel and spritzed them

with water while they smoked and they came out good.

Only do that to what you are going to eat .

Re-warmed, re-warmed shrimp .... is not good eats.
