As the arrival time for gifts grows nearer and nearer. It would be appreciated if you would snap a picture or two of the Christmas Exchange gift that you received and post it here. This will simplify matters and keep all of the great gift items in a central place.. It is also a cool way to say Thank-You to you Fellow Forum Members.

lol Glad you figured out who it was from. Tried to score you some of that Hot & Spicy Spam too, but noooobody out here carries that stuff. I went to the website and they said there were 3 stores out here that have it and none of them did. Funny too, I saw your post on sausage casing and was going to get you some of that until I saw you ordered it. Now after reading your post on it not coming I'm thinking I should've got that too. Hope you enjoy!!!

On further inspection, the box wasn't big enough.

I did get a nice haul of...

Famous Dave's BBQ sauce
Tennessee Sunshine hot sauce
BIG BOB GIBSON WHITE SAUCE!
Another local BBQ sauce
JD Marinade in a bag (I've never seen that around here - hello flank steak!)
And a container of Gun Powder Seasoning - looks (smells) very interesting..

Got me all excited, like a little kid on Christmas morning wanting to see what's inside.  From Amana, IA, I'm thinking this is going to be good.   I was wrong, this isn't good ... it's way better than that!

A beautiful Teli salami and a killer collection of mustards, from dman4505. This is truly awesome!

Southernsmoked you are very welcome sir ! ;)

The midwest really isn't known for much but crazy weather..one day it could be nice and warm and the next it's cold and snowing. If you don't like the weather stick around it will change.
So I decided to get you some of the things I like, a couple of them I learned about from reading all the posts here in fact and some you may already have but you can never have too much of a good thing  ;) ;D

The BBQ sauces are self explanatory but I'm guessing you have never had sticky fingers  :D. The pepper jelly is really good on meat balls mixed with BBQ sauce or maybe a big ole fatty  ;D
The gunslinger I get by the case at azgunslinger.com. They have lots of great products there. The stuffed olives rock! Check em out!
The pepper and onion relish is good on everything  :D And the rub..yum yum yum yum yum. The CT..like someone else has said already..it would make a rock taste good so if you haven't tried it yet you're in for a treat!  ;) If you haven't tried the high mountain yet its quick its easy
and tastes great too.

Please enjoy!  I hope you have a great holiday!

Chili Head, It was my pleasure!  I had great fun picking up those goodies, packing 'em up and watchin' 'em travel.  Hopefully it will bring you some great taste and fun as well.

As far as what BBQ is like in TX, as Pachanga can probably better relate and tell, more than one good fight has started over that very topic.  As you probably know, TX is a pretty big place and in all that "bigness" there are a lot of variations on the BBQ theme.  The book will help you out on this.  Just have a can of Whup-Ass at the ready if you get into one of those heated discussions about TX BBQ and what is is supposed to be like.   ;)   :D   ;D

By all means, get a hat, and some boots too.  Just be sure to drag them through a few cow pies for the appropriate adornment and aroma.  And keep one can of Whup-Ass in the glove compartment of your pickup.  ;D

Glad you liked it Randy.

Well, the mailman left me a box. Now, I can proudly say that I can join Nepas, CRG and others as someone that HAS SOMETHING IN A BOX!!!!!

But alas, I am weak in willpower and could not go any longer without opening the box. Once opened, I had another opportunity to demonstrate willpower as inside was another box. This time it was gift wrapped.

But, once again I didn't measure up to the others, and had to open my box and remove the contents. And I am glad I did. Inside was some great stuff, a marinade kit and some extra rubs. Thanks very much Chris (Camoghost). This is perfect timing as next weekend I have to make a brisket and 3 butts for a Christmas lunch at work.

However, I must admit that I was somewhat depressed that I did not have the willpower to wait and am no longer a member of the elite group of those that have something in a box. That is until I realized that I still have the box and it has air in it. So I resealed it and now still have SOMETHING IN A BOX  (air). Hey its lame but you work with what you got. ;D

Thank you very much, Don!

If the wife has her way, little of this will be left after the weekend.

You're very welcome my friend, enjoy

Received my gift Friday, all the way from Iowa.

What could it be?

PERFECT! A case of disposable latex gloves!

I opened it up to try on the gloves and found a great selection of BBQ Sauces!

I am really looking forward to trying all of them. The Cowboy John's Grillin & Dippin Sauce looks interesting. The first ingredient listed is "brewed coffee".

Thank you very much Randy (love the smoke). They will all get put to good use.

A little bit of information I forgot to put in the box
Almost all the sauces are made right here in IOWA, the apple butter BBQ sauce is sold by a apple orchard and they ONLY have it available during the apple season once its sold out they get NO more till next year

The Cowboy johns sauce I found on the internet and when you place your order you don't pay for it, when you get the sauce in the mail there is a hand written bill of sale and an address to send the $ to, us Iowegions are a trusting bunch aren't we ?

The country side is probably my favorite

I have not had a chance to taste them all yet so keep us posted on what they are like

Ding Dong....I runs to the front door and there be the postman.  I says you got something for this here household and he nods and says matter of fact I do.  He hands over the package and I says "Thank you and Merry Christmas".

The box that was delivered.  It was was from JimBo

And this is what was inside the box.

Jim, thank you for sending a taste of MI.  I am very excited to try out that Cherry sauce.  I love peanut butter and it sure looks good.  I may have to try that out first.  The bacon cure will now get me off my duff to try a bacon.  Thank you again for your thoughtfulness!

I got a very cool box from Kentucky today!!   Thank you very much Mr. & Mrs. KyNola!!!

There were even treats for Saffron!  She'll be very happy when she gets home from playschool!

I was just looking at Randy's pictures yesterday and wondering if Starnes was available online - now I don't need to look.    Jan's rub is awesome and the Solieus looks great.  The ham looks incredible, we haven't had any country ham since we lived in VA for a short time, it will make Mr. Deb very happy.  I have a great recipe for gingerbread popcorn so I will be using the KY molasses and popcorn very soon.

Am I supposed to smoke the peeps?? ;D

Thanks again for an awesome present! :)

As for the Saffron treats, they are handmade here locally by a friend of ours using only natural ingredients.  No fillers or crap like that.

I got home today and slowly drove by the front of the house so I could see if there was anything sitting on the front porch. So with a slight sigh I thought well maybe tomorrow. So I parked and walked back to the street to grab the trash can and the newspaper and mail. SURPRISE!  ;D

I got a box! And it didn't stay closed very long! (unlike...well, we all know!) This is fun!

I heard from the bride this morning that I had a package from Alabama arrive this morning. Needless to say, I was more than a little anxious to see what the south had to offer. Schmidty, to say that I was overwhelmed is putting it mildly.

I was kinda hoping that some Bob Gibson white sauce would show up, but as they say, "Watch what you wish for."

Some of it, like the Wasabi White BBQ sauce and the Alabama Sunshine, I'll probably get to enjoy all by myself. When my better half saw the Galena Pumpkin Butter, sparks flew as she spun the lid off and grabbed a big ole spoon full. I haven't seen her or the Pumpkin Butter since ???

Thanks for a little taste of the south and thank GusRobin for kicking you off the bench for me.

Schmidty, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Sunny SOUTHern California.

Randy

I also want to wish you and your family a joyous and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I also wish the same for all of you and your families here on the forum.  God Bless all of you.  Mr. and Mrs. Nepas

PS:  Don't forget the BBQ this summer.  nepas Said to be watching the Smokeout section.

You are very welcome Randy ~ It was a lot of fun shopping for someone who shares the same obsession.
I'm glad that everything made it in one piece, did the JD's Dirty White Sauce have an issue or was it just de-pressurized?  UPS has a standard $100 insurance and if there is a problem with it I'm sure we could make a claim for mental anguish which we could then turn into a case of Bobby Gibson White Sauce for you  ;)

Scmidty - Everything came through un-scathed. I think the JD's may have had some air-travel issues. Only problem was I couldn't keep the wick lit on the salsa 8)

Mrs. Nepas - I so hope you get a chance to try out some of the recipes. My wife almost hijacked the book, and she doesn't cook, more of a microwave technician. San Diego is a bit of a wasteland when it comes to BBQ and the like. I can only think of a half dozen places around and some of them are a bit of a stretch.

This forum and the people on it have become an integral part of my days and I look forward to a future of learning and being a part of this great group. God bless you all and have a glorious and safe holiday season!

I'm proud to announce:

With God's help, and lots of hours I've got enough work to keep all our people working through the Holidays and into next year a bit.  Bound and determined not to lay any one off before Christmas.  Now a little time to do things I also need to get done.  I have to acknowledge the fabulous gift I received from my Christmas Buddy Darqman.  I am not worthy!  Opening the box left me speechless.  I am honored and humbled.  Dude, I'll never be able to thank you enough.  I have already shown it to the most likely direct beneficiaries of the benefits of my receiving this noble gift - those guys being my flyfishing buddies.  They are already planning to kidnap me and my new gift and force me to go on some weekend fishing trips to the mountains.  In my best Eddie imitation - "ITs the gift that keeps on giving!"  Somehow, I don't think I'll be getting much fishing done on those trips - seems smoked goodies are the real goal!  I introduce you to the newest precious newcomer to caney's stable of smokers.

Great gifts everybody!

So, I was at the sink cleaning up my mess, again, and this big ole brown turck pulls in my lane and zooms by my walk and turns around at the end of my lane, he's been here before, many times. Then he stops at the walk and jumps out with a Big box, walks to the porch sets it down gently, turns and walks away. I think Tucker scared him off.  :D Tucker is a 15 lb Boston Terror with a bark to match. ;D So by the time I get my hands dried off the big brown truck races away, did I say it was 7:50 P.M.? Now I go out and pick up the box thinkin Oh Boy this is gonna be fun. Get it inside and see its addressed to the wife.  >:(

Had me all siked up, damn it.

Kinda feel like a kid waiting for santa to come.

Got my HEAVY package on Monday.  It arrived in excellent condition...thank you Post Office!!!

My apology to the state of Iowa for the sudden statewide shortage of seasoned mustards, BBQ and hot wing sauces, flavor enhancer rub, honeys, yogurt pretzels and microwave popcorn.  Thanks also for the Schleswig's Schnapps Haus beer mug, shot glass and pens.  Picture to follow when I figure out my phone camera!!!

You call yourself Tiny Tim.............but your heart is HUGE!!!

My package has been delayed going out due to being knocked on my butt by a cold.  Picking up one more item then itza outta here!!!

Ray

You're welcome Ray...I enjoyed being able to send a taste of Iowa your direction.  I was a little concerned about the mug, as I hadn't wrapped it quite as securely as I would have liked to, guess it helps to jam stuff so tight that it can't move, huh? :D

Glad you like it Schmidty.  We don't have any special sauces or spices in Southern MD so I went with some good regional treats.  We have stuffed ham and blue crabs but neither ship well  ;D.  I hope you enjoy those special pecans as much as I do.  Funny thing is I always cough after eating them.  The bourbon is strong but tasty.  Have a wonderful holiday season!

I should have put that in the poll on top. I find it just as much fun seeing the reaction and what everyone gets as I do receiving a gift. Things like this make this forum stand out above all others.

Had a good surprise when I came back from work this afternoon. I found a card on my door saying that there was a package waiting for me at the post office.

Rushed to the post office to get the mystery box. I was so excited that I opened the box in my car. I was like a kid in a candy store!!

Here's what Mike sent me!

Mike, you really hit the target!! This is so kind of you to have checked on the forum to see what I wanted.  I was trying to find a way to get C.T. in Montreal & you delivered it to my house! Thank you very much. It is really appreciated.  ;D

And those rubs looks fantastic.

I cant wait to try those wonderful products.

Thanks again Mike & Merry Christmas to you and your family!

You guys rock!  ;D

Also just in case you didn't notice, most of everything there is made locally

I came home tonight and had TWO packages!

One was from my exchange buddy pikeman_95.  Inside was a sausage making kit, jerky marinade, hog casing, spices, a sample of his home made jerky and a nice handwritten note with recipe for sausage he makes.  First, even before reading the note, I had to try a piece of the jerky and it was delicious!  What a great idea for a gift.  I can't wait to use these items and post the results.  Thank you Kirby!

But there was another package I wasn't expecting.  David aka DTAggie sent a huge bottle of Salt Lick.  He must be reading my post and knows that I use it on everything.  The bottle Sonny gave me this summer is almost gone so this was a great surprise!  Thank you David!!!

How cool to receive goodies in the mail.  I can't wait for next year's exchange.  This has been a lot of fun.

You are more than welcome David. I hope you enjoy the shtuff as much as I did putting it together for you. Merry Christmas to you and yours and keep warm out there in Calgary!!

The story behind the spice bottle in the close up picture is when I am making rubs I prefer to buy my spices from the Indian markets. Not only do I find them fresher, I can buy bags of spices for the same price as shakers in the everyday grocery stores. On my travels through the spice isles scanning the shelves for ingredients that I needed (believe me not easy as there is a lot of stuff on those shelves that I do not understand) this bottle caught my attention and I literally drew attention to myself cause we laughed out loud!! ( I had a buddy with me) I sent this to David as a gag gift.  David I hope you laughed as much as I did.

Merry Christmas everyone and I hope your Christmas is all that you want it to be.

Peace,
Jigger

I received my awesome gift from RossP today. I phoned my wife in excitement and was
quickly instructed not to open and/or eat anything until she get's home from work. :-(

Thank you Ross for your excellent package. I'm sitting here smelling the June and Caylie's
Rack and Butt rub. It must be the Cumin, cinnamon, maple sugar, nutmeg that has peaked
my taste buds.

I'm so looking forward to trying out the rubs on my next smoking adventure.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Wow no one received a package today to post pics of?  I was at son's wrestling tournament all day and just kept thinking about all the cool stuff I would see when I finally logged on tonight.

Being at a wrestling tournament gets me on the edge of my seat every time.

I wrestled all through school and so did my son.

Some times 6 min goes forever.

It was a long a** day.  He is a sophomore.  Wrestled the JV tournament yesterday..went 4-0 with 3 pins.  17 teams at this tournament.  Today he wrestled the varsity part of the tournament.  Did not fare so well...went 0-2.  First year to ever wrestle.  Banged up his left thumb yesterday.  Going for x-rays Monday.  Looks pretty nasty.

I wrestled part of my Freshman year...undefeated....however, none of the schools we had meets with had anybody in my weight class, and I got tired of getting up at 4 AM on a Saturday to go to a tournament where I wasn't going to be participating.

Hope your sons thumb is alright.

That is a very important thing to have when wrestling.

Yeah it is.  He only needs a couple more matches to letter so he is acting like it is no big deal..but it cost him today.  TT, he wrestles 140 lb.  Always kids at that weight.  However, he weighs 136 and last week actually wrestled 145 so another kid who he beat for 140 could get some work.

I wrestled at 155, till my seanor year then jumped up to 168.

Fun, fun!

I wrestled some in high school too. I'll never forget this time when I was in training. I had a 200lb + guy I was up against (I was only 145lbs). I was able to get him over and pin him multiple times - I just couldn't hold him because of his weight advantage. He kept throwing me over like a rag doll.  :D

The guys name was Tiny, and for the longest time I thought it was our beloved Tiny here on the forum because his real name was Tim.

So I'm sitting home alone, no phone calls, no knocks on the door, nothing. Just me reading all day. I decide to take a step outside my front door because the weather is supposed to be awesome today. Beautiful - wow 81° F.

OK now before Chris goes all Ebenezer on me I guess I should get on with the story.

So I turn around to come back in and I see this box. I figured it was some of the gifts I ordered over the internet for my family, but this box looked like it was wrapped to go through a military zone. Now I don't know what y'all have heard, we may not accept illegal aliens from Mexico, but we do accept gifts from Bettendorf Iowa.

..... and yes SS I had to peek too  ;D

OK, so I open the box - WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

A box of bags, just what I always wanted. And these aren't just any bags, they are from all over the place. Walgreen's, Target, Camping World, HyVee, Menard's, Kohl's, Dollar General, Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, Staples, CVS, Osco Drug, Lowes, Fareway, heck - there was even a mystery bag that just said thank you 4x.

But now that I think about it, that box sure did seem heavy for just those bags. There must be something else down near the bottom somewhere.

Look there's more!!!!!

I've hit the motherlode!
First a beautifully written card and note explaining where everything came from. There were chips made in Illinois (believe it or not, I've had these and they are great - my brother sent them last year. I was hoping he'd do it again, but don't matter now!), 4 different Baked Snack Crackers (Wild Ranch, Wild Cheddar, Wild Hickory Mesquite, and Wild Buffalo) - I had to try these and they were great - one word of caution - if you want to taste the others don't start with the Wild Buffalo - cause you'll eat the whole bag! There were 2 different BBQ sauces from Johnnie's Market (Old Fashioned and Hot N' Spicy) and a T-Shirt from there as well. Then the candy - made in Moline Illinois from a place called Lagomarcino's. I'm saving these for desert.

But wait, is that all - I mean really what were these people thinking?

Wait for it

Yes there is more coming

Don't go too far because it's down below

Here it comes

Are you ready

It's a mini Javelina - I had to label them so you wouldn't get confused on which was the real one and which was the imitation. It is so life like!  ;D :D Really this was my favorite of all the gifts - I busted out laughing and nobody was home to hear me.

You really outdid yourselves Seemores! I appreciate the effort and expense you went through for me. You really shouldn't have - I'm not worth it - just ask anyone here  ;D :D.

Thank you again for EVERYTHING, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to both of you and of coarse Tasha!!!!!!

I doubt that 10.5 but there is no such thing as a 'lame' gift.  It's all about the joys of giving and sharing ...  :)

I for one really enjoyed sharing some of the local flavors and receiving Texas flavors and spices from CRG.

Since Ripon, CA is the Amond Capital of the World I sent off spices and an assortment of Amonds ... (when they're on the trees they're called 'Almonds' but after harvesting they become 'Amonds' cause the harvesting process uses a machine to "shake the 'hell', "L", out of them to knock them off the trees)  ;D ;D

Besides, the selfless work you are doing with the Bradley Smoker Forum Members Newsletter, the Forum Members Christmas Exchange, sharing your wisdom and recipes, and spending quality time with your children speaks for itself.  Everyone will agree with me when I say "Thank you for your efforts and time".  Now go grab a beer and smoke something!!!  ;D ;D

Hey, Kevin!  Glad you got your gifts!  Hope you enjoy them!  It is always fun shopping for the Xmas exchange - yes, this is MRS Seemore, not Mr Seemore, typing.....  ;)
You would have got the package earlier, but we were waiting for the arrival of the little javelina!  As you can see, the little dude is just too cute to riddle with bullet holes!  Shame on 10.5 for even thinking that!
As for the bags?  We save them, because they make great dog doo-doo picker-uppers when we are camping!  Now you can think of that EVERY time you pick up a Target bag....... :-[
Happy Holidays!!!

When I first opened the gift a couple of the girls in the office said nice looking serving tray
Wade came over and looked at it and says that's not a serving tray its a jerky cutting board
So when I posted it I just called it a tray because, well I didn't want to embarrass myself.

But now that I know for sure it makes the gift even better because I just threw away my Berkel meat slicer
and don't much care for the cost of the new ones.

Jerky is one of the things I like to make the most of in my smoker.

Thanks again Colin I will put it to good use and thanks Chris for pointing out what it used for.

I got a box today, but it may have been at the post office a few days.  Checked last Wednesday and there was nothing there, was going to check Friday, but left town without thinking about it, and by the time I returned, the Postmistress was gone for the day so I didn't even bother stopping.  Monday and yesterday just didn't work out.

Anyway, on to the good stuff.

Proof that it's a box. ;)

Right after opening.

And finally...the contents.

Some sticks, sausage, and cheese, along with a nice card and note.  Thank you Rick (NePaS) and family for the wonderful gift.  Letting the food chill a bit after it's stay in the PO before I do some sampling, but I'm sure my patience will be rewarded.

Thank you again to Rick for the gift, Chris for organizing the drawing and distributing of names, and everybody else for proving why this forum is so great.

DT, your are very welcome.

Glad to here you liked the jerky.

The treiyaki is Tabys favorite, we came up with that mix trying to fit Tabys taste, its made from whole muscle deer.

The spicy is also made form 100% deer, ground and shot out my jerky cannon and you know whats in the jalapeno swiss SS.  ;D

The breakfast seasonings is the best that I've found, yet.

Cant wait to see what you do with them spices, I know it will be gooood.

You didnt throw away all them brown paper towels did ya?

You might need them wile makin your sausage.  ;D

Marry CHRISTmas, everybody.

I just got mine from huckaberry3.  I don't think anything else would have fit into the flat-rate box.  I had to do two pics.

First, the sauces and S&P.

Finally, a bunch of other good stuff.  The Wasabi pistachios are kinda hidden behind the jug in the center.  The wife was running around with scissors trying to get to 'em.

Thanks to you huck and of course to all of the forum members that makes this happen.

Dreamland sauce! In the restaurant they bring to your table white bread slices and a cup of the sauce to enjoy while you wait on your food. They originated in Tuscaloosa, AL (Roll Tide) and have grown a bit! I've not been to the original one but we do have one in Huntsville, AL that I have been to. I'm a bit biased but it's good!  Dreamland Bar-b-que  (http://www.dreamlandbbq.com/)

Congrats pensrock on a great assortment of sauces!  ;D

10.5 called us to let us know that we have something at the post office.  Nothing was left in our mailbox to let us know.
So, Mrs. stopped by there after work today, only to find out that the box was put on the mail truck.
So, Mrs went home, and there was the box, sitting by the front door.
Here is what we got:
They smell absolutely wonderful!  Mrs peeled an orange for my lunch for tomorrow, and the entire kitchen smelled nice and citrusy!
So, thanks to our Secret Santa, whoever he or she is!  We don't know who you are, but we will be thinking of you this Saturday morning, when we dig into that grapefruit for breakfast!

Merry Christmas OU!   Glad it got there in one piece.  Doesn't look like any froze and sacrificed their lives in our pursuit of good eats - at least not yet!  I really wanted to send a couple of other Tennessee things, but the places I buy them from have not reopened from the big Flood.  Raincheck is invoked.  Not being a sauce kind of a guy, I can say I have only had the Corky's, the Rondezvous, and the White BBQ Fight Club.  It is made at a bbq joint across the street from the fly shop I frequent.  We'll go there after our Saturday Morning Liars Conflab.   The place is called Hog Heaven and only has 3 picnic tables inside a screened in porch.  Just about the only thing I get there - because I like it so much is either the smoked chicken or the smoked turkey sandwich with the white sauce and a side of fried pickles.  Talk about good.  We frequently go across the side street and dine in Centennial Park.  It can get interesting as the park is across the street from Vanderbilt University.  But also get to dine with some wildlife of the animal kind also.  Last week, a buddy was showing off his new lens and caught these two co-diners.

PS - the neatness of your bbq corner and spice rack is daunting.  Pics are not allowed around mine.

Have been home from work, but had to finish up Christmas shopping, get dinner made, throw a load of towels in the wash, and then do dishes after dinner.
So, long story short, just getting on the Forum, and saw Chris' note that you were our Santa this year.
We are both looking forward to sampling that grapefruit tomorrow.
It was nice to have a bit of warmth from the Sunshine State on a cold day like today!

Well I guess it is my turn to share my experience. It started out this morning that I had to take my son to physiotherapy so I booked the time off work. Being as I live around the corner from the facility I decided to say "See ya, Catcha later" as I can go home and get things ready for the weekend.

That didn't happen so much. I got home and not 10 minutes after ther was a door bell ring. I damn near sh^t my pants!!For those of you that frequent the sight you may now that I recently became a recipient of the bread starter and the obsticles faced in order to make it happen... you know like having bomb potential if not treated right. I appoached the window as stealth as I could. I took a peak and  felt immediate releif it;s the post man and he has a box!!What a relief. But what could it be?

K Cups? no way, I  was smarter than that and knew two K cups could not fit in there. That is when reality set in....it must be a "Fatty Patty" This is the name my son and his friends attached to an inflatable.

Neadless to say I approached the box with caution at this point.I did not want to rip, tear, or scratch my assumed gag gift. I gently sliced some scissors across the seam if the box and that is when I knew how wrong I was.

Welcome to the second stage of Bavind's gift to me. A pure rush of scent seduction I have not witnessed before when opening anything. This is what I smelt.

I got true warmth form one of the coldest cities of  Canada, Calgary. Enter David's 30hr smoked hickory smoked salt. This stuff is totally awesome

Bavind Thank you so such for everything,

I tried to wait as close to Christmas as possible to open my Gift as it might be

the only thing I get. (I have been BAD). Just couldn't wait any longer.

I get this Package.

I look to see if it is for me or my Wifey and I see this emblem:

So I figured it was for her. ;D Then I saw my name on it.

And then this emblem catches my Eye.

I have seen that before! I look and it is from:

Pat (Iceman) and Ann from Alaska!

The "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin starts playing in my Head.

"Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
Hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new land,
To fight the horde, sing and cry: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western (TEXAS) shore."

As I tear into it all I can think of NOW is Iceman' "Sop'n Sauce" that

I have never tasted but have heard nothing but praises about.

As I am draggin stuff out, this is what is inside tha BOX.

Alaskan Moose Nugget "Lip Chap" ..........

"It Won't Heal Your Lips But It Sure Keeps You From Licking Them". ;D

There's MORE!

And Just when I had started to lose hope, I find them in all the wrapping!

Nice tree too.

I know I will tremble and shake before I ever open the 1stJar. I will

probably have an OPENING Ceremonial. I am Happy.

The "TREE" is my Wife's. It's kinda Funny! She wants NO help putting

it up cause she is afraid some one will drop an ornament OR worst yet

put it in the wrong spot. And while she is doing the "TREE", she is in

the worst mood possible. It makes for a real nice two or three days

around my house. BUT ........ She does a nice job with it. I just hate

all the Cussin'. ;D

You dog you "THE SAUCE" it has some kind of magical powers you really cant stop eating it once you open that jar, so the first one is easy open up and enjoy but the second (last) one now that is something else, youll want to open because you crave more sauce but once its open it will be gone soon so you will have a real dilemma on your hands open or not? YES open NO save it, But I NEED some, but I NEED to save it. Man I envy you  ;D ;D

Sounds like I have a worst problem than when I didn't have it. ;D

I would hate to have to make a road trip to Alaska to get more.

No wait, that's a GREAT idea. ;D

I do know this, I will put a TOXIC label on the sauce and will not share. ;D

Wow nice haul.

The sauce ...  The sauce....

Just remember:

as much happiness is spread when you open it and the aroma drifts out...
the indescribable pleasure that you experience it upon first taste...
the place of honor in the fridge you award it...

Take all that and multiply by 3 and it will be the sorry you feel when you are in a corner stroking the inside of the LAST  jar with a trembling finger as you babel incoherently.

Merry Christmas :)

I've got a sister in Willow, AK about 50 miles from Wasilla, AK does that in anyway give me an inside track on some of that "Sop'n Sauce"? I mean hey! Were almost family here?  ;D ;D

Sorry Brian. When I got home I found the card I wrote explaining what it was. Thanks Ten.5 for filling him in. And chili you are right it is bamboo and oak. It is 1/4' on one side and 3/8" on the other. Glad you like it and once I get the design all down pat I will likely start to sell some. I will let you all know when that comes about but with my hours these days I don't get much time to work in the shop. I am also working on a design to make some out of the white plastic they use for cutting boards.

Meet BPS - Isn't she beautiful!

On a side note - I also have the time today to get my box out to someone somewhere in OK.

Wow, I have no idea how I missed this post.  I've been monitoring this thread enjoyed seeing all the goodies so I have no idea how I missed it.  You are so very welcome, I've always enjoyed reading your posts and I know you will enjoy it.  I apologize I've missed this for so long.  If you ever wander into OK please look me up. Merry Christmas Caney!

Looks like we are winding down to another successful Christmas gift Exchange. Only a couple left to come in and that is great. This is truly one of the best forums. The friendship and generosity is above and beyond what you might expect from a forum. I have said it before and I am going to say it again, What is a forum, for the most part it is a bunch of people from here, there and everywhere that have a common interest. But this forum takes it to a higher level. You look at what has transpired this year. What with the smoke outs and the road trips like Nepas and a few others and the bartering and AND the generous passing on of unused items, you folks have taken it beyond just some faceless folks who like to smoke food and talk about it. This forum rocks all other forums in my eyes. So kudo's to all and everyone and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

I love the jelly's they are Chokecherry and Saskatoon, they remind me of my Grandfather when I was younger.
When we would visit them in Edmonton I would always help him pick Chokecherries and Saskatoon berry's.  He didn't make
jelly out of them he made wine  ;D  Once I was older, I enjoyed many a bottle of his wine, it was really good.

Thank you very much for everything, cant wait to try it all.

Merry Christmas

I would like to add this small story to End or wonderful Christmas exchange amongst friends. The tears are free

Three years ago, a little boy and his grandmother came to see Santa at the Mayfair Mall in
Wisconsin. The child climbed up on his lap, holding a picture of a little girl.

Who is this?" asked Santa, smiling. "Your friend? Your sister?'"

"Yes, Santa,' he replied. "My sister,  Sarah, who is very sick," he said sadly.

Santa glanced over at the grandmother who was waiting nearby, and saw her dabbing her
eyes with a tissue. "She wanted to come with me to see you, oh, so very much, Santa!"
the child exclaimed. "She misses you," he added softly.

Santa tried to be cheerful and encouraged a smile to the boy's face, asking him what he
wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas.

When they finished their visit, the Grandmother came over to help the child off his lap,
and started to say something to Santa, but halted.

"What is it?" Santa asked warmly.

"Well, I know it's really too much to ask you, Santa, but.." the old woman began, shooing
her grandson over to one of Santa's elves to collect the little gift which Santa gave all his
young visitors.

"The girl in the photograph... my granddaughter well, you see ... she has leukemia and
isn't expected to make it even through the holidays," she said through tear-filled eyes.
"Is there any way, Santa, any possible way that you could come see Sarah? That's all she's
asked for, for Christmas, is to see Santa."

Santa blinked and swallowed hard and told the woman to leave information with his elves
as to where Sarah was, and he would see what he could do. Santa thought of little else the
rest of that afternoon.  He knew what he had to do. "What if it were MY child lying in that
hospital bed, dying," he thought with a sinking heart, "This is the least I can do."

When Santa finished visiting with all the boys and girls that evening, he retrieved from his
helper the name of the hospital where Sarah was staying. He asked the assistant location
manager how to get to Children's Hospital.

"Why?" Rick asked, with a puzzled look on his face.

Santa relayed to him the conversation with Sarah's grandmother earlier that day.

"C'mon.....I'll take you there." Rick said softly. Rick drove them to the hospital and came
inside with Santa.

They found out which room Sarah was in. A pale Rick said he would wait out in the hall.

Santa quietly peeked into the room through the half-closed door and saw little Sarah on
the bed.

The room was full of what appeared to be her family; there was the Grandmother and the
girl's brother he had met earlier that day. A woman whom he guessed was Sarah's mother
stood by the bed, gently pushing Sarah's thin hair off her forehead. And another woman
who he discovered later was Sarah's aunt, sat in a chair near the bed with a weary, sad look
on her face. They were talking quietly, and Santa could sense the warmth and closeness of
the family, and their love and concern for Sarah.

Taking a deep breath, and forcing a smile on his face, Santa entered the room, bellowing a
hearty, "Ho, ho, ho!"

"Santa!" shrieked little Sarah weakly, as she tried to escape her bed to run to him, IV tubes
intact.

Santa rushed to her side and gave her a warm hug. A child the tender age of his own son
-- 9 years old -- gazed up at him with wonder and excitement.  Her skin was pale and her
short tresses bore telltale bald patches from the effects of chemotherapy. But all he saw
when he looked at her was a pair of huge, blue eyes. His heart melted, and he had to force
himself to choke back tears. Though his eyes were riveted upon Sarah's face, he could hear
the gasps and quiet sobbing of the women in the room.

As he and Sarah began talking, the family crept quietly to the bedside one by one, squeezing
Santa's shoulder or his hand gratefully, whispering "Thank you" as they gazed sincerely at
him with shining eyes. Santa and Sarah talked and talked, and she told him excitedly all the
toys she wanted for Christmas, assuring him she'd been a very good girl that year.

As their time together dwindled, Santa felt led in his spirit to pray for Sarah, and asked for
permission from the girl's mother. She nodded in agreement and the entire family circled
around Sarah's bed, holding hands. Santa looked intensely at Sarah and asked her if she
believed in angels.

"Oh, yes, Santa... I do!" she exclaimed.

"Well, I'm going to ask that angels watch over you." he said.  Laying one hand on the child's
head, Santa closed his eyes and prayed. He asked that God touch little Sarah, and heal her
body from this disease. He asked that angels minister to her, watch and keep her. And when
he finished praying, still with eyes closed, he started singing, softly, "Silent Night, Holy Night....
all is calm, all is bright."  The family joined in, still holding hands, smiling at Sarah, and crying
tears of hope, tears of joy for this moment, as Sarah beamed at them all.

When the song ended, Santa sat on the side of the bed again and held Sarah's frail, small hands
in his own.  "Now, Sarah," he said authoritatively, "you have a job to do, and that is to concentrate
on getting well. I want you to have fun playing with your friends this summer, and I expect to
see you at my house at Mayfair Mall this time next year!"

He knew it was risky proclaiming that to this little girl who had terminal cancer, but he "had" to.
He had to give her the greatest gift he could -- not dolls or games or toys -- but the gift of HOPE.

"Yes, Santa!" Sarah exclaimed, her eyes bright.   He leaned down and kissed her on the forehead
and left the room.

Out in the hall, the minute Santa's eyes met Rick's, a look passed between them and they wept
unashamed.

Sarah's mother and grandmother slipped out of the room quickly and rushed to Santa's side to
thank him.

"My only child is the same age as Sarah," he explained quietly. "This is the least I could do."
They nodded with understanding and hugged him.

One year later, Santa Mark was again back on the set in Milwaukee for his six-week, seasonal
job which he so loves to do. Several weeks went by and then one day a child came up to sit
on his lap.

"Hi, Santa! Remember me?!"

"Of course, I do," Santa proclaimed (as he always does), smiling down at her. After all, the
secret to being a "good" Santa is to always make each child feel as if they are the "only"
child in the world at that moment.

"You came to see me in the hospital last year!"

Santa's jaw dropped. Tears immediately sprang in his eyes, and he grabbed this little miracle
and held her to his chest.  "Sarah!" he exclaimed. He scarcely recognized her, for her hair was
long and silky and her cheeks were rosy -- much different from the little girl he had visited
just a year before. He looked over and saw Sarah's mother and grandmother in the sidelines
smiling and waving and wiping their eyes.

That was the best Christmas ever for Santa Claus.

He had witnessed --and been blessed to be instrumental in bringing about -- this miracle of
hope. This precious little child was healed. Cancer-free. Alive and well. He silently looked up
to Heaven and humbly whispered, "Thank you, Father. 'Tis a very, Merry Christmas!

I am terribly late in posting pics of what Rdevous sent me all the way from MD.
The first pic is of the box's contents, a cookbook, some sweet treats and some sauces.
Remember I told you I received the most special box of all?  Here's why I made that statement.  The cookbook is from the Red Cross titled "Cooking For Heroes".  A collection of celebrity recipes for donors and recipents.
The two sauces are from a company that sells various sauces and a portion of the sale proceeds goes to various US Marine Corp organizations and charities.

Kynola....nice photography work.  The sauces came from the Marine Corps Museum 's gift shop.  Everyone can order them and a ton of other merchandise online at http://www.marineheritage.org/Store_index.asp (http://www.marineheritage.org/Store_index.asp)....or you can visit the museum and pick them up.  The sweets came from Target.  Since I can not donate blood, I have baked cookies for the blood drives at my Knights of Columbus Council for the last 5 - 6 years.  (I've had Red Cross workers tell me they work our drives to get my cookies.)  I stop by BJ's and pick up a tub of Pillsbury's Chocolate Chip and a tub of Sugar Cookie dough.  I roll the balls of sugar cookie dough in a mixture of sugar, cinnamon, ground clove, ground allspice and ground ginger.  (Dbrown1... ::)...did I just reveal my secret Toast Mix formula???  I'll never tell...insert the evil laugh of your choice here!!!  ::) )  If you want a sweet and sour taste...roll the sugar cookie dough balls in Tang drink powder...I'm serious...it was good!

Can you either post or PM me the web address on the sauce bottles?

Merry Christmas and a very blessed new year!!!

OK, Bump.
Now I first have to send a huge apology to Kinyo. I am just now posting my gift exchange from him. When my daughter moved out my camera somehow ended up in her stuff and she just found it. A thousand sorrys to you Laurent.
Now on to to my gift, first on the left is a 8.8 oz jar of "Coriander Chutney". Then and foremost was two 540 ml cans of Maple syrup from Quebec. Then we have a 15.7 oz bottle of "Dichicko's All Natural Peri Peri merinade". Next is a 150 ml bottle of "Walkerswood Hot Jamaican scotch bonnet pepper sauce. And finally a 5.6 oz shaker bottle of "Schwartz's steak and beef spice. If I missed anything thats cause it is already being put to use and I have forgotten who sent it to me. I have a terrible memory.
So again I am very sorry for this late homage, but here it is.

TT....Just to follow up on the mustards you sent me.  I made cabbage, potato and bratwurst soup in my electric pressure cooker not long ago and the recipe called for 2 tbsp of course grain mustard.  I used the Dennison mustard.  My sister and I liked the vinegar note it gave the soup.  Since the recipe calls for dill, I'm thinking of using the mustard with dill the next time and either cut back on the amount of dill I add or not add any extra dill weed.

As a side note...anyone think of getting an electric pressure cooker should check out the Fagor 3 in 1 cooker.  It's an electric pressure cooker, rice cooker and slow cooker unit.  I found the best price at Amazon .com.  While I still need to work on the resulting rice I get, I will fight to the death to keep the 3-in-1 unit.

I will deny I told you about this but here a great item for the next Secret Santa Exchange or just place in your pantry and await its discovery: http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/wacky-edibles/e5a7/ (http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/wacky-edibles/e5a7/).
