Title: Birds a plenty
Post by: SoCalBuilder on November 26, 2010, 02:46:43 PM
Turkey day yesterday and the first go round with turkey in the OBS. I opted for a breast with apple and hickory and then threw a full bird on the Lynx rotessorie. As I was about to load up the smoker I rememberd tha my brother-in-law gave me a couple quail breast to try. I finally found them in the freezer and put them in with their larger relation. Everything turned out great, but the quail never made it more than two feet from the smoker ;D Tasty, but not very filling.

8 lb turkey breast and a couple quail breasts still frozen together

The finished breast. Kind of flat, but still good and juicy ;D

Sorry, but no bird on the spit pics >:(

What does quail taste like?  Uh......real good!  Don't know how to explain the taste but if you like chicken you will like quail.  Understand that quail does not taste like chicken but it is of that flavor genre.

I heard that quail, turkey, and chicken all taste like frogs legs !

Kidding aside, has anyone ever smoked frogs legs (got a couple of pounds in the freezer)?
