$210 for the pig and then i got to pay for cut and rapping what are the prices were you are at?
raping a pig? kidding. Have no idea on prices. I shoot my own
sorry but no wild hogs here well ladys night dont count
now that was funny
thanks
The last pig I got I paid 75 bucks for processing.
Warning - keep your heads on a swivel guys -- good possibility of incoming! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Last hog I bought was $200 cut wrapped and in the freezer. To keep your costs down at the processing plant DO NOT have them smoke anything that is where they hammer you. have them slice the bellies into thirds and smoke them yourself. and have them leave the hams whole and do them yourself as well.
just bought a half-o-cow. looking at $700. that doesn't include processing, etc.
Man Oh Man, when I looked into doing this I got prices around.
2.99 LB and .89 LB for processing.
They had recommended anywhere from 100 to 150 LB pig.
the 210 did not include cut and rapping
:'(
Don't be sad, that sounds about right to me. :)
Last time I bought a half a hog was a buck a pound and the pig was 200lbs, so half was $100.
plus I had to pay cut and wrap on top of that.
Cut and wrap right now here in N. Idaho is 50 cents a pound.
I just had 3 steers processed and there was a $50 mobile slaughter fee per animal, too.

The pig we got this summer was $165 for the pig and $85 for the processing. We had it just done into basic stuff nothing special as fare as spices or smoking. It was for 4H club so we paid a little more. There is a local farmer that will sell them for 75-85 depending on the size and market price. We like it big so that we get enough meat to last us until the next summer. We also got 1/4 of a cow so between that and the 15 chickens and the rest of the mess i keep buying at the store it is 22 cubic feet of fullness.
.75 per pound cut and wrapped. this is the butcher shop about ten blocks from my home.

Belly Rupture about to die...free....cost of processing...1 .22 shell, so $0.03 plus a roll of freezer paper, $3-4
Gotta love knowing people in the hog business, only thing is they always want me to help when they butcher.
I usually pay .99 to 1.99 a pound at Winn Dixie depending on the sales, then I toss that sucker in my China Box!!! I've gotten pigs from the local farms and have to say that they don't come out any different.
Ahh!!!
La Caja China.. Love it!

We put a big board on the table and cover it with a heavy duty plastic tablecloth. Cut it up and do it ourselves. Ya, it doesn't exactly look like one you get from a butcher but it isn't hard to do. A little labor intensive but worth it. There are lots of sites on the internet that will show you how to cut up an animal. A good meat saw, some nice sharp knives and you are good to go. Hopefully your pig was gutted before you got it? Ugh. The worst job!
In school i took a meat cutting class i can cut meat but i dont have the room. The pig was taken to the butcher live and they killed and gutted it
