Title: Turkey cook time
Post by: Uncle Pigfat on January 21, 2011, 09:43:51 PM
Am I right thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 to 8 hours cook time for a 14 pound bird with a 240* cab temp?  I feel confident if it's in the smoker by 10:00 am I should have a finished bird by 6 or 7:00 pm, but the later it gets and the more I drink I'm becoming racked with doubt.  I'm going to have 8 hungry people waiting so I don't want to disappoint.

Thanks fellas.

I have yet to do a bird in my OBS, but do lots in my brinkman charcoal/wood smoker.  I will put one on around 9 and eat around 5 so assuming you can keep that cabinet temp where you want, you should be good.  You could also use the Bradley for the smoke time then put in oven to finish rest of the time.

Experts will be along shortly to help you out.
