Title: Smoked Pickled Eggs
Post by: Habanero Smoker on September 28, 2005, 11:40:57 AM
I made some smoked, and regular pickled eggs about a week ago. Today is the first time I've tried them. It was a unique breakfast.

The smoked eggs infused the vinegar with a smoke flavor. Latter today, I am going to use some chipotle to infuse some vinegar. This got me thinking, that is should be possible to apply smoke to nonfood items, such as food grade silicon, or stainless steel and use that to infuse smoke flavor to vinegar, and possible to oil. But homemade infused oil is discouraged, and I would not make it due to the risk of botulism.

I will post the pickling recipe latter.

I forgot you are just down wind from me. Funny I didn't smell a thing[:D]

For the more adventurist, the eggs came out pretty good, with very little stench[:)]. It reminded of the days I would be in a bar, and there was always a big jar of pickled eggs. Pickled eggs and beer where made for each other.[:p]
