Title: First smoKe with PID
Post by: RFT on September 25, 2011, 07:52:22 PM
First Smoke done Using Dual Auber PID and it turned out great.  Temps seemed to be a lot steadier using the PID Recovery time seemed like it went smoother also holding right , or close, to where I programmed it.  No more chasing the slider around trying to get the correct temp.

I can see where a 900W or dual 500W element and fan mode would make this smoker great as far as fast recovery time and keeping the heat moving.

Thanks to Gus for his pictorial on setting this thing up and to all the other forum members who have posted info on the PID.

Yes, the slider. A sure point of contention here. It's usually full on... the control is not usefull really. I do see the need for an Auber after a couple of months of use without. It can be hit and miss, esp with thin cuts such as ribs. I can seem to get better results using indirect heat from wood & charcoal on my homemade grill apparatus -with steak & chicken.
