Interesting.  Same thing here.  (I don't run IE normally)   IE 7 shows the red X.   Firefox displays them both.

Hello Everyone

As Nepas has posted this is our new smoker The BS611
We took a lot of the comments and suggestions from our forum members and customers (Thank You)
and made a few changes to the smoker design.
Here are a few of the changes:
1. New Stainless Steel Interior.
2. New Rack supports keep racks from tipping over when pulled out.
3. Heat control moved to Smoke Generator which will eliminate moisture damage to switch.
4. Improved Front Face Plate.
5. Improved Electronic components
6. Extra large front feet for added support and stability.
7. Generator has removable side panel for ease of cleaning and preventative maintenance.

Very Nice.  I was at Cabela's today and all Bradley's were gone.  Is this because they are gearing up to sell this model?

Well what they did does sound good. But disappointed the element is still 500 watt and no fan. Also curious if door design was done stronger and better.

I'm curious as to how it reached a temp of 320* if it still has the same 500W element.  Better insulation?

Anyway, I did a Google search and found it listed for $343.48, although I don't think they have any in stock yet.

Must have changed the "high temp cut out switch".

I see some nice improvements. I'm not sure about the graphics on the front. Most of the paint on my generator and cabinet have worn off. I may think about upgrading; I've had my other one for about 7.5 years.

The old high temperature switch was rated for 320?F and it was advertised as temperatures up to 320?F, but I could never get mine over 260?F.

I'd be interested in knowing exactly which components have been improved.  A catch all phrase doesn't tell ya much.

One thing it looks like they missed the boat on is, instead of messing around moving the temp control like they did, they should have made a deal with Auber and put a controller in the generator. I like the graphics and the improvements they did make but for another $25-$40, depending on the deal they could make with Auber by buying in quantity, better control would be a big improvement. Now maybe this is the new and improved 'Original unit' and a new and improved 'digital model' is in the works? But its defiantly a better design then they had with the old original unit. I like it.  :)

How could she resist that line (again)?  You probably need to be on one knee and holding a small penguin out to her when you ask.  That night cushion the answer a little bit.

Art this is Nepas we are talking about that had better better 2 RATHER Large Penguins!! He has a lot of sucking up to do.

The new unit just goes to show what kind of company Bradley is. They ACTUALLY listen to their customers. They have taken ideas and suggestions from US forum members and incorporated them into a new and improved model. That speaks volumes to me.

(Just bought Momma some new wheels for her birthday. I know I aint getting one of these any time soon!!)

It's a nice looking unit and some of the issues that have been discussed on this forum for quite a while have been addressed ... but not all.  Anxious to hear from members after they put the new BS611 through it's paces!

There's a reason why many members built their own PID or are using an Auber PID, modified their units to use 2 elements or the 900 watt element, and why fans have been installed.  Has the new unit addressed these issues?  Time will tell ...

The graphics is a nice touch, but if it is like the paint they used when they built my smoker, it easiely fades, and wipes off when I give the outside of the smoker an occassional wipe down.

I'm not sure how I feel about the temperature control built into the genertor.

I AGREE! As far as design I could care less! And as for removing slider and using a rheostat is mute since a lot of people by pass it any how. A better and bigger heated element should have been #1 thing. Since this seems to be the biggest disappointment to most. I also think a deal with Auber PID would be a definite deal buster. Also a fan! The legs look better but where or what are they bolted to. Still wondering about the door too. Well only time will tell but no way i'm even thinking of getting one till they prove out. Too many problems and i'll take a real heavy steel one like the extra wide master build and put my S.G. and auber PID and electric setup and try it. Not insulated I'm sure but solid as a brick. Could also blanket it like they do the Bradley. But right now I'm doing good but always keep your option's open.

Man as many of you know my son (jp-projects) just got an original BS. He asked for money for Christmas for  smoker. He went out and bought an OBS just after the New Year. If I would have known this new one was coming out I would have had him hold off and get it instead of the the original one.  I think the new one looks a  whole lot better and I like the temp controler is better long with the front legs.I think the graphics kick butt and Lisa really likes the look of the new one also, maybe that will be n onpening for me to get the new one.  :( I don't think so. Aanyway I hope my son is not to disappointed that he missed out on the new one..

I seem to remember there were a lot of great bargains on the OBS prior to and during the holiday season, maybe they needed to reduce their current inventory before the release of the new model.

It won't be as easy or perhaps as nice looking to mod this one with an auber built into the SG.   The OBS seems to be better for that purpose.

Don't they sell the smoke generator separately for cold smoking?  Before they had separated the functions of smoking and temperature regulation, which was smart. Now they are combined??

We now have the new Bradley in-stock ready to ship. Right now we are offering it at $349. But if any of the forum members are looking to add this to their collection in the next week or two I am sure we can work out some type of forum discount. If interested send me an email or PM me.

Well don't look like it will work for cold smoking any more unless you use ice. Pretty bad idea combining temp and smoke I would feel.Any one seen one to give a idea of all the pros and cons? What do they mean by improved electronic components? The rheostat?

Why wouldn't it work?  From what I see in the pics the chamber temp control has high/low/off settings and the SG has its own on/off switch.  Just leave the chamber temp knob turned OFF.

I've never cold smoked with the Bradley.  Am I missing something with the above suggestion?

Well my point being is that you could turn off the smoker before. But to truley cold smoke you need to get a cold smoke box or make one. Their not doing that for no reason. Also with the control for smoker on the SG I'm thinking you need a cable  or something to remove SG and use else where.

Well at this point in time I'm not complaining! Just thinking out loud. But I do hope that stainless their using is a better quality then their stainless smokers as I heard a lot say they rusted. I have never heard of SS rusting. LOL If my cabinet holds up i'll be happy. I like their system of smoking. and only thing I personally thought needed changing was the heating element and fix door problems. But even that hasn't bothered me yet.

If you want tight temp control, yes.

For briskets and butts, you don't _need_ a PID, but it is nice to have.

Sorry to break this to you Viper but stainless steel can rust.  It's not as likely to rust as other metals but it can rust.

I'm still not sure why you think the new OBS won't cold smoke.  Not being critical at all.  I just don't follow your logic.

Im not saying it can't. But said if you set it up like so many do. With a cold smoke box. If they make a cable or something to go to smoker so you can regulate the heat on the smoker. Or weather you'd have to put it back on. I have seen SS rust but that guy said it rusted thru. This I havnt seen.

There are different grades of stainless steel, the lesser grades you have to use more care. You can distinguish some of the cheaper grades, because they are magnetic. I have a stainless steel stove front that is made of a lesser grade of steel, and if I don't catch some spills right away it will react to acid food causing rust and pitting. I can see it a low grade stainless steel rusting through, do to the acids that are produced during a smoke.

Being a die maker I'm fully aware cheap stainless will rust pretty fast as good stainless  may but takes neglect better. I am saying I hope they used a better grade of stainless! Not that it wont rust. LOL So hope they used the good stuff wont take long to know. Also as far as the Auber PID who knows. There new ad claims better electronic parts. Hope fully this means less swing then the original Bradley. I'm just surprised they didn't fully address all issues. But that's their choice and we will never know that. Has any one bought one yet? The price don't seem that bad.
