I normally only use dry rubs when I do pulled pork but want to try something a little different and use the mustard this time. Heres the stupid question...I slather it with the mustard then apply the rub right?
Yes, the mustard just act's like a glue for the rub to stick to. You won't taste the mustard after it is cooked
yup thats what i did one my first one, wether it right or not, not sure
no mustard flavor at all in the finished product or i would have heard
it from youngest - he's not a big mustard fan :-X
Ok, thats what I thought but just wanted to be sure. I also have one with molasses, thanx for your quick responses!
I prefer molasses rather than mustard. I used to use mustard but after I tried molasses one time I have not used mustard since. One word of caution, the molasses butt will have a tendency to "weld" itself to the grate so be aware you may have trouble getting the butt out in one piece. :)
Failed to mention that in no way am I trying to tell you what to do.
Thanx for the heads up. A buddy of mine said to use powdered molasses, but Im thinking to listen to you since you've always given great advice in the past.
molasses , interesting will have to try that.
do you just use the regular molasses that the boss
uses to cook with?
I will have to try the molasses myself.

There's no such thing as a stupid question here
Just great people with top notch tips and tricks
I may have to try the molasses sometime
I did a brisket the other night with the molasses, it turned out ok except I had'nt cleaned my puck tray before hand and the pucks hung up and nothing got smoked. Lesson learned!
Ditto on the no dumb questions here!! You should see the one I posted when I was first on here :D
my fist question (http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=10444.msg112809#msg112809)
Got plenty of help and answers from the members. :)

I will reiterate again, there are no stupid or dumb questions here on this forum, if you don't know please ask and yes not everyone here agrees with some answers that are given here, but the intention to try and help is a good thing...most of the time when a question is ask I think it's best to wait till you get several answers and then make a decision on what you want to do...JMHO

Yep, regular ol' molasses. Nothing special, the kind you buy at the grocery.
I use Brer Rabbit. Pretty much the only kind they sell around here. ;D
