Title: Maverick ET-73
Post by: nodak on February 23, 2006, 01:26:35 AM
I put both probes in water and found that the probe for the smoker probe reads 10 degrees lower is this normal due to that it's supposed measure air temp?

Also I order mine from thegadgetsource.com and the switch on the remote was missing or broke off and they are sending me one right away, and very apologetic, so I would recommend them if your looking $39.99.  Was able to stick a toothpick in to turn it on so able to get by until new one comes.

Thanks

They should both read the same temperature (within a degree or two). Next time secure both probes together with a piece of aluminum foil, making sure the end tips of the probes are lined up, and then place them in boiling and/or ice water, keeping the probes away from the sides of the cantainer.
