Friend wanted to borrow two of my 4wheelers to take a group of kids
up to the deer camp for Spring Break. I didn't mind but both needed
new brakes. The deal was I buy the parts and he does the labor. Good
deal for both of us. I got the brake parts and he came by to get them.
This friend is on the receiving end of a lot of smoked stuff and usually
gets 3 to 4 loafs of bread a month. So when he got here I was proofing
bread to bake. He ask if one of the bread loafs were for him. I said sure
but that he may not want it cause THIS bread is a little different. After
explaining what I did, then it started.
Tell me you didn't!
Yes, I did!

Didn't think it was a big deal. Just made my Bread with BACON grease
instead of cornoil. Bacon is Good, Right?

The dough took on a golden hue. After mixing it was a nice creamy texture.
The rise of the dough was a little slow but OK. Put the dough in bread pans.
proofed out very nice.

The taste of the Bread was most excellent. It really didn't have a bacon taste
but the bacon oil (as I call it now) took away some of the sweetness of the bread
and gave it a buttery flavor. I like it! Might put the bacon oil in a mister next time
to mist the tops instead of using a brush. Maybe some bacon pieces next time!!!!
Great idea CRG! When I was a very small child I had an aunt that made biscuits everyday. When we would go for a Sunday visit I always ran to the stove because I knew she had saved some biscuits for me, sitting in a plate covered up with a towel. I never put anything on them, just ate them right off the plate because they were so good. Know what she used in her biscuits? Lard. Best biscuits I have ever eaten. Wish I had a big ol' plate full of Aunt Novie's biscuits right now.
YOU ACTUALLY DID IT??!! ;D ;D
OMG yes you did it
Looks great Sonny!
I think the monkey just put a smile on the faces of the bacon gods. ;D
Well done !!
Looks like you could make a pretty serious BLT sandwich with that, Bacon Bread BLT.
