Title: More heat with Bradley Controler
Post by: jdhunt0 on April 01, 2013, 01:38:36 PM
Has anyone added either a second heating element (500W) or swapped in a 900W element and kept the stock Bradley temperature control on the new style smokers?  I would like to be able to get to temps above 240, but don't see the need in adding a PID at this time.

If you opt for the second 500W element or 900W element mod you will not be able to use the Bradley controller as it will not handle the wattage.  You will need to use a PID such as the Auber that has the ability to handle up to 1400W.

You have to use a pod if you do the mods.

That's what I had assumed, but every DIY I have seen was on the old slider style control.  Had my fingers crossed that the beefed up the dial control.
