As mentioned in the MWSO IV thread. The MWSO V date is still in the planning stages. We are currently looking at Aug 9th or 16th for the date. Looking at the Smoke Out grounds. We have plenty of time to work it out!!

Count me in!!! That's my B-day! What a great way to spend it. Maybe I can even talk Miss Cindy into coming along.
We're looking at the schedule so we can make it hopefully.

Tailfeathers, that's the Scandinavian nice way of saying "you're flippin nuts for living someplace like that!".
Tskeeter, former resident of MN's "Tip of the Arrowhead" (far northeastern MN) and Grand Forks ND. Both of which are reasons that I now live in an area where I can look at the snow in the mountains as I sip my morning coffee (I think it's pretty), but rarely have to clear it from the driveway. Today's temp should be in the mid 50's, as it has been most of January.
Well it broke zero about a half hour ago, we've got a whopping 1F! They say tomorrow we may even get above freezing (barely).

I posted in the 4 then saw this.. Moving back to Minnesota this summer, hopefully I'll be able to make it. Looks like it's around a 5 hour drive from my area, nice long bike ride. I'll keep ya posted.
Hope everything is still a go for this one, booked our room in Dyersville today.
Our driving the MH up is depending on how my wifes mom is with the cancer.
I'm trying to be able to make it...have 1/3 of the trip budget in a safe place, think another 1/3 will be coming from a friend, and the third 1/3 shouldn't be that big of an issue to save up between now and then...but things happen. Cautiously optimistic, but I was last year too and just about everything that could happen to prevent my going, did happen.
Less than 60 days out! Who's coming.
I'll be there.

How is it
less than 60 days out? Isn't it in August Brian? Still working on logistics on this. Sooo fun last year!
We'll be there :)
OOOPS don't want to wish the Summer away, if we ever get one. Sandy is correct, less than 90 days out.
I WAS planning to come, but I'm gonna have to wait and see how things go between now and then. Fell and wrecked a knee real bad, I've only been to work for a total of about 60 hours since January 30th (thank God I can do most of my job from my recliner with my laptop). My employer has been super, they have paid me my full salary the whole time. That is why I may feel a bit hesitant about taking time off once I DO get back to working full time. (Not to mention the copays and deductables are raising hell with my finances). Still not ruling it out, I would dearly love to meet all of you. We'll see what develops.
I think I will Actually be able to make it this year!! Will be real nice to meet everyone
It looks like I'll miss this years smokeout. I'm going to be having an operation fairly soon and it is a pretty long recovery. I'll miss at least a month from work then light duty when I get back. Not sure when I'll be back fully with no special food requirements. And I will use up all my vacation with the surgery. I was hoping it could be done in March or April but the insurance just now accepted the procedure and I still do not have a surgery date. :(
But I will be there in spirit, it was a lot of fun last year and got to see some old friends and got to meet some new ones. If anyone has not been to one I really suggest you try to get there. Its so nice to meet some of the people here in person and make some new friends. And the food is great as well! :)

I'm sorry to hear that, Greg. We'll miss you. Now that I've found a source for Cooper cheese, I'll have to try and make some of your little cheese "muffins" to bring. Good luck with the surgery and get well soon! Joe
Good luck with your surgery Greg. I'm hoping to make the MWSO again this year but too early to tell yet.
Thanks guys I really thought this would be over with by now and into the recovery time but the insurance has held things up till recently. Now waiting to get in to see the surgeon to get it scheduled. I figured I would be good to travel and get to the smokeout but maybe next year. Have fun!
Good luck with the surgery. I know the recovery will be long but hopefully the surgery you are having will easily and thoroughly correct your problem.
Penz, don't know what kind of procedure you'll be having, but I'm all to familiar with surgeries and recoveries! good luck to you and I hope the end result is all you hope it will be.
Best of luck on your surgery Pensrock!
Do what cha gotta do Greg. We'll catch ya on the flip side
Judy and I hope you get your surgery scheduled soon so you can be onto the recovery phase, you will be missed this year in Iowa.
I've skimmed all 3 pages, so I apologize if I missed it, but where can I find the details of the MWSO?

The MWSO is a central gathering point for members of the forum that live here in the MidWest. The last 3 and the upcoming one are held in Cascade Iowa in my backyard. The MWSO was/is designed for folks like yourself to be able to put faces to the names that you see posting. These smoke outs are open to anyone that wishes to attend. Therefore you meet Sandy from Vegas or Greg from the Pittsburgh area, maybe even Rick from Florida or Pat from Alaska. Generally it is an informal gathering and unwinding from your road tripon Friday night. Saturday morning folks visit the surrounding area or make their annual pilgrimage to the Edgewood locker plant. That afternoon folks start showing up around 3pm. We all start manning one of the grills or smokers scattered around my deck and start cooking. Around 5ish I inform everyone in attendance about the ONE rule about eating at my house.
We eat then we all sit around and converse swap a few lies. Most of all if there are any questions you have about any of your Bradley smokers, making sausage, jerky, bacon etc... This is the time to ask. You can and will get real time answers to your questions.
Hope this helps if not send me a pm and I can give you a call and explain it more
All I can add is if you have never been to a smokeout. Try to go, you will get a great chance of meeting great friends and putting faces with many of the members here. There will be plenty of great food and lots on knowledge for those with questions. I have met members from Pa, Ga, Conn, NJ, Iowa, Tx, Neb, Nev, Ky, Minn, Canada and I know I'm forgetting a few other places at the moment. Point is people travel long distances to go to one of these and its a real pleasure to finally meet them face to face. On Saturday there may even be someone from Bradley there in case you have a specific question or problem. Go and enjoy you will not be sorry. :)
And, as far as accommodations go, there's a Super 8 in Dyersville, 16.31 miles north of Cascade. I'm paying $138.97 for two nights this year. There is also a nice RV park in Cascade. Several folks stayed there last year.
Thanks so much for the reply! Sounds like a great time with great people!
I have to leave my schedule pretty open this far out, but am putting it on my calendar for sure.
Thanks again!
I'm hoping to go but on the job hunt right now so I'll do my best to keep you informed.

Hey Chris I have a driver and her name is MOM please put me down for 3 on the ninth and man I hope it goes by fast as I can't wait to get there and see old friends as well as some new ones hopefully!
Bumping this since it's getting closer and if you haven't been to one you really ought to think about it, it's a ton of fun with a great bunch of folks.
Started working on some sausage projects to bring to the SO today, two recipes mixed and ground in the fridge to be stuffed tomorrow. Who's planning on coming this year??
As of now you may want to put a ? on my name. Depending on how my MIL is doing will be the decision for me. I know my wife wont come.

Prayers to you, Chrystal, and MIL, NePas.
Not looking like I'm going to make it, I had a couple more unexpected expenses that drained the cash stash I had.
I see you guys bumped it for me. Time to start asking for numbers. If your planning on attending the MWSO. Post it here or send me a pm to let me know. If your planning on attending but have never been here let me know and I can get you here to Cascade

Chris, do you have any kind of headcount for this year yet? Judy keeps asking who she's going to get to see and who's going to be new to meet?

Kept out hope that I would be able to attend, but started treatment for a form of pulmonary fibrosis (lung tissue hardening) that requires I remain close until we see what meds do to me.

You going to be able to make it this year Larry? Saw you were still listed with a question mark.
Now that I have a pretty good idea of how many are coming. The menu that I will be providing is going to be Brisket, Tri Tip, Beef Chuck (Pulled Beef), Turkey (Pulled Turkey). Momma is making a Huge hash-brown casserole, plus a couple of desserts. That should be enough to get us started!!
See on the Radar some rain moving through South Dakota. Hopefully it doesn't affect Jeff and Gina to much on their Motorcycles.

We're leaving within the hour for a leisurely 2 day trip up, I'm bringing Greek Sausage, A-1 Kielbasa and two big batches of Jerky Pucks to add to the mix.
I am not going to be able to make it this year. While I was really hoping things would pan out where I could, circumstances didn't come together.
Everyone have a good time and safe travels. I'll be watching the goings on through the pics you post. That's not nearly as good as witnessing it first hand but it will have to do. :)
That's too bad, Larry. Next year for sure, eh?
Everyone there will have a good time and eat very well. Like Larry and Rick I am waiting to see some picture and comments. Have a safe trip everyone and enjoy! :)
Ditto Pens. Sucks being this close and not being able to make it...just wasn't meant to be.
Received a couple packages in the mail yesterday. Some Smoked Cooper cheese from Pensrock. Along with some Salumi and Chorizo from Nepas. My neighbor also dropped off 5 dozen ears of Sweet Corn to boil up or send home with folks!
I will be making up a batch of Jambalaya for the travelers that arrive this evening.
Sounds good Chris, we're heading to the Amana Colonies this morning and then up your way later this afternoon, see you then.
Saddling up the "Blue Cyclone" now. Heading your way soon, Chris. The jambalaya sounds great!!
We have arrived in cascade iowa. A great (but damp) trip down. Staying in tent site R9 at the riverview campsite. woohoo:)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/08/ryta4ete.jpg)

we'll see everyone tomorrow afternoon for the big show

Glad the package arrived in time Chris.
Can never go wrong with Jambalaya!
Let the party begin! :)
Woo Hoo, The menu and all the folks that will soon arrive sounds like soooo much fun. Wish I could be there. Way too far for this old man. I will be looking forward to the pic's.
Anxiously awaiting some pics and thoughts..... ???
Gorgeous weather, Great friends [both old and new] too bad we ran out of food!
I myself didn't get any pictures, hopefully some of the others got some. Another successful Smoke Out in the books! Time for tear down!
Well THANKS Chris and Miss Vicki for another GREAT time and for all the work you do to pull it off! It was really great to see old friends make some new ones and miss some old friends that couldn't make it . The food was awesome along with all the little goodies everyone brings to sample and the companionship was even better. Oh Chris don't tear it down just leave it up and we can meet there again next month and when it gets to cold we could move closer to the fire ring or into your garage!! ;D. Thanks also to Lance and Frank from Bradley for the gift bags and for taking time to be there with us. As always if you haven't been to a smoke out get to one and if there's not one in your area start one it's the best thing you'll ever do. I hope everyone had safe trip home and hope to see you all NEXT YEAR !!
Made it back to Nebraska safe and sound despite the 1/2 hr wait for construction and the guy that tried to run into me just blocks from home!
Thanks again to Chris and Miss Vicki for hosting another fabulous Smoke Out. Good to see old friends and make new ones. And thanks to Bradley for the gift package. BTW....mine fits ;D
BRAGGAR !! ;D
A big THANK YOU to our gracious host and hostess, Chris and Vicki, for allowing us crazy food addicts to play in your backyard. The food and the company were fantastic as always. It was great to see "old" friends and make some new ones. To those who weren't able to attend...we missed you and hope to see you next year.
To our friends from the Bradley office a huge THANK YOU for attending and for the wonderful gifts they are much appreciated.

Don
Thanks for the pics. The food looks great as always and a real nice gift from Bradley.
Great pictures, wish I could have made it :-\ Really going to try for next year
Just got back to Texas about 1:30 PM today, had a great trip up and back and an even better time at Chris' house with all of our old and new friends. A big thanks to Chris and Miss Vickie for hosting us again this year and to Bradley for caring enough to send Rep's and gifts again this year.
Well if there are not anymore pics.... fill us in on the food. I'm wondering about the A1 Kielbasa and other goodies others brought.
More pics would be great, it looks like such a good time. Any chance of tagging the people with names for us new guys that don't know all the faces. More food description too please.
Pensrock. I am waiting on Manfromplaid. He was the picture taker of the group. They were taking the scenic route back to Canada. The scenic route to the MWSO was 1910 miles over 4 days on motorcycles. They should be getting home here shortly.
Besides it was just like last year Pens. The food sucked!! :o ;D
OK great. I figured there had to be more pictures.
I can just imagine how bad the food sucked. :o ;D
i don't have many pics. spent all my time eating drinking and eating and talking. just got home from the smokeout. traveled 1910 miles/3056 km. to get there and 2162 miles/3459km back. have to say a big thanks to chris and miss vicky for hosting an awesome event. want to say thanks also to those that attended and made it such a great day. thanks to bradley for the treasures and the meet and greet. i came home glad that i made the trip down, its a long way to go for supper but its summertime and we need someplace to go. the smoke out give us all an reason to get out and have fun. a great bunch of people i think i might do this again.

Me too!
Thanks for the pics. Looks like everyone had a good time. :)
Great pictures Jeff, glad y'all got home safe and it was a pleasure to meet you guy's
so to sum it all up; if you have never been to one of the smokeouts-find one that you can get to or if travel is not an option have one where you are. plan it post it host it.its a meet and greet for like minded people, does not have to be big and fancey does not have to be from a pro chef it just needs to be fun. share your bbq and smoker victorys with new friends and old. a one time or a many time. this was only my first of many.
Jeff glad to hear you two made it back safe and sound.
It was a pleasure to meet both of you.
