If you had to cook a pork butt with a sugar-less rub what would you use? Wife is on a sugar restricted diet. No Splenda & no MSG either.

I usually use a mixture of salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder

Try one of these:

iceman's oinker rub
    1 Tbsp Spanish paprika
    1 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 Tbsp freshly ground black pepper
    1 Tbsp white pepper
    1 Tbsp granulated garlic
    1 Tbsp granulated onion
    1 Tbsp chili powder
1 Tbsp ground red pepper flakes
    1 Tbsp celery salt
    1 Tbsp dry mustard

Hugh's dry rub
    1/2 cup paprika
    2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
3 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
    6 tablespoons garlic powder
    3 tablespoons onion powder
    2-3 tablespoons salt
    2 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
    2 1/2 tablespoons dried thyme

I like to use Bolner's Fiesta Brand "Texas Style Steak Seasoning" on butt's and CSR's, it's got a good flavor profile and no sugar. It also makes a killer pot of beans.

You could try Stevia for your sugar substitute.

Salt Lick Clone works well, with a bit of a punch.

In parts:

3 - kosher salt
3 - black pepper
1 - garlic powder
1 - cayenne

Don't get it in your eyes..    ;) :o
