Title: Puck advancement

Opened the sg and blew it all out. The manual advance button works fine. The pucks will not advance automatically. What controls the advancement? I am thinking the little control box mounted to the bottom of the sg?

There is a timer; which I believe is embedded in one of the circuit that triggers the motor every 20 minutes. It may be that box on the bottom of the generator.

Can you give further explanation of what you mean by pucks will not advance automatically. Is it trying to advance the puck, but fails to. Or you do not hear the motor turn on until you push the advance button.

It does nothing until I push the button. I had it set up an noon but didn't babysit it to watch and listen to what might be happening. Just checked after 20 minutes passed and it was not advancing.

I had the same problem when my obs was fairly new, the pucks would feed fine when the button was used but would not feed with the 20 min timer. Adjusting and replacing the micro switch didn't fix it and Bradley replaced the entire smoke generator. The 20 min timer will be an electronic cct that resides sealed in a tarry substance in the little black box on the bottom. No user serviceable parts inside. I don't know if the sealed pack is available for replacement. Is this a new unit? did it work and then quit?

Old unit, at least 10 years. Has always worked fine.

Sounds like a call to Bradley may be necessary. If you didn't hear anything, such as the motor making a noise, or the advance system attempting to engage; it may be that box. Just double check to make sure all the wiring is firmly connected. When you cleaned it, a wire may have loosened.

All the wiring looks good. It was doing this before I blew it out. I'll give Bradley a call.
