Title: PIN WHEELS
Post by: Wildcat on January 22, 2007, 06:34:49 AM
I have another foumula for a great hors d'oeuvres.  My wife does not much care for it but I do.  I think they are to die for.  Guests love them unless they do not like the taste of horse radish.

Ingrediants :  Pre-packaged very thinly sliced corned beef.  Horse Radish.  Cream cheese.

Mix up cream cheese and horse radish to taste.  (It is easier to mix if you let the cream cheese warm up a bit)  A little goes a long way on this paste.

Take 3 slices of meat and glue the ends together with paste mixture to make a long piece.  Keep in mind that you are going to roll this up so be careful how you paste them together.

Spread a very thin layer of paste over one side of the meat.

Now tightly roll and fasten together with paste.  When rolling, it should be as long a a single slice of meat.

Chill in frig and then slice into small pin wheels and serve.

If you do not want to take the time to be fancy with them, don't bother to slice, just eat them in the roll form.

QuoteMix up cream cheese and horse radish to taste.

Sounds excellent, I happen to have all the ingredients in the fridge so plan on giving it a go later! To give me a starting point, roughly what ratio of cream cheese to horseradish do you use Wildcat?  :)

Quotejust eat them in the roll form.

Yep, think I will go with this!

I start with a standard block of cream cheese and a teaspoon of horse radish.  I love horse radish so I usually add more to it.  It really just depends on your taste.  Horse radish can become overpowering really fast.

Try the Moorehouse Atomic horseradish.  It's to cry for.  Very tasty and atomic. ;D

Thanks for the feed back.  They are easy, but to slice into little wheels takes a little time.  Worth the effort for guests though.

I have made these before...but a little different...a flour tortilla...coated (on on side) with jalepeno jelly...two slices of regular boiled ham...then spread on a mixture of scallion cream cheese (simply made my mixing softened cream cheese with scallions) on the ham...roll, chill and slice...really good and filling for a party.

Another easy one is dried beef slices (like the kind you make chit on a shingle with) rinsed (very salty if you don't)...spread softened cream cheese on the beef and wrap around a whole scallion!! Gotta be good friends you eat these with!! :)
