I thought posted about this, but cannot find the posting.
About a week back I got Mechwarrior 2 to run on XP. Some gamer hacked the codes and wrote a patch. Seeing how that game was copyrighted in 1995 - 1998 this is a good thing. Been having a blast with the past.
For those on the know I've got MW2, Ghost Bear, and Mercs -- Titanium Trilogy (3D). Going through them without a Lance unit. Just, me... myself and I..., and of course getting my butt kicked on some of the missions.
Got this Flashman (seventy-five tonner) I loaded it with 9 machine guns with a pot full of ammo, and one medium pulse laser. Talk about tearing up some armor... heh he he ... :D Of course trying to get close enough to use them is a challenge. Those ER Large lasers, PPCs and LRMs do take a toll on my Mech until I get into weapon range. After that I don't go right to the kill. I just take a leg out and then move on to the next Mech. After I "legged" all of them I go back and finish them off with the pulse laser...saving my M-gun ammo.
If anyone wants these game I have ISO them, and I can also supply the hacked-patch. Of all of the stand a lone and online first person shooters I've gamed over the years these are the best. Of course the graphics are over 10 years old; not the eye candy of today, but the scripting and story line is great --which is what most of today's games lack.
