Man that looks dang good bigred. Enjoy!!! :)
Thanks Mike, the Walleye fishing is about to heat up down here. We are going to our cabin on a resevoir in middle Nebraska next weekend. I was thinking about trying to fish for some Walleyes while there. Any early season tips you can pass along? (you being Mr. walleye and all) Have you ever used any of the Gulp products for Walleyes?
Good looking smoking adventure. Some days life is just great.
Our season is closed for the month of April and opens on May 3. We have a tourny that weekend, a trip to Northern Manitoba for a week at the end of May and another tournament for 5 days in mid June. Hopefully I can get some fishin' in between all that! ::)
Up here we use mainly leeches and nightcrawlers. Usually in the spring we will lindy rig with leeches and up to 8 foot snells. We usually get some nice size in the spring. As the water starts to warmup we quite often switch to nightcrawlers and spinners. When we locate them we also will try to jig them.
Late summer and through the fall we will use cranks, spinners and BuzzBombs.

I'm in the middle of my smoke and I check on the smoker and no lights on at all. I check the power cords and everything looks fine, still no power. So I grabo my old digital control unit that was not advancing pucks and swap it out for the unit that was not working and it powers up just fine. I am starting to loose some faith in the Bradley. It seems I have had more thaqn my share of bad luck with the Bradley's. I just don't understand it. I love my Bradley, but these little problems are begining to be not so funny. I read all of these posts about people never having any problems, but it seems like I am having more than my share. I am not one of those people that everything goes wrong for so I just don't get it. ??? ???
That sucks Red! Hopefully you can get it sorted out. I'm assuming your still running with your other generator.
Mike
That's crazy bigred. That's just plain rotten luck. I sure hope things turn around for you. I've had next to zero problems with any of mine. I'll burn a puck to the Bradley Gods for you :D ;)
Looks real good.
BigRed
I was re-reading your post regarding your "no power" problem this morning and a problem came to mind that I had once.
For what ever reason I had the wire burn off the back of the fuse holder inside the generator. This has happened to a few people on the DBS. When it does there is no power at all. To comfirm this you will need to open the generator up and have a look. Once I replaced the holder itself I never had another problem. I have since added a PID, which of course now supplies the power direct (separate fuse) to the tower so the built in fuse (in the generator) only has to handle the power supply to the generator. Now that I think about it, it probably helps having the power split, so to speak, and having seperate fuses.
If this is what it is you can call Bradley and they will send a fuse holder out to you or you can purchase one from Radio Shack. Here's a link,

Thank God I had the old defective smoke generator to finish my cooking. Allthough the smoke was done and I could have finished everything in the oven, but that would have been a pain. All came out well in the end, here are the finished product pics.

Opened up the fuse holder of my smoke generator today and the fuse was stuck in place, it broke off when I tried to pull it out, so I opened up the box. It looks like the fuse holder melted at the middle wire conection. It smells of melted plastic. A call to Bradley and a new fuse holder is suposed to be on the way. The person I spoke with said that maybe it was due to a poor quality extension cord. It's the same one I have been using since I got the smoker, so I really don't think it is that. Oh well, I hope this is the end of my Bradley problems. Thanks for all of the feedback!
Terry
Congrats on the excellent smoke Terry! ;)
Looks fantastic! 8)
Hopefully you get your fuse holder issue sorted out.
Mike
Wow BigRed...you can cook son!! :)
BigRed
You sure can cook............but I did notice that a few of the ABT's got away when you opened the door.
I've seen enough of those fatties on the site, that I have to try my hand at them.
John
Looks great!. what did you put on the chicken ?
Thanks for the compliments, good eats for certain! FLbent, I used Nantucket Off-shore Rasta Rub
(http://www.nantucketoffshore.com/images/spicerubrasta.jpg).
A Jamaican Jerk style rub. I really like it as far as Jamaican jerk rubs go. Has just the right combo of spices for me. I found it at Whole Foods. They also have a web site. http://www.nantucketoffshore.com/spicerubspasta.php
I count 7 missing ABT after the smoke!
Great job Bigred. That is some good lookin grub!
Looks great, good job saving the smoke.

Hey Big Red, or anyone who knows. What are the details on the outstanding looking "fatty" shown above. I have the ingredients and really want to try this along with the ATB's tonight. Thanks in advance.
Hey Supacooguy, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, was out of town for the holiday weekend. The fatty is just Jimmy Dean pork spicy pork sausage rolled out flat. I then through in a bunch of stuff I had in the fridge, rolled it up in the plastic wrp so I could get it all sealed up good, took it out of the wrap and into the smoker at 220 for 2 hours of smoke and an internal temp of 165 and that's about it.
If it's too late I hope your ABT's and fatty turned out good.
Terry
Hey Bigred, I have a question about the ABT's that look soooo good. Is that cheese that you have wrapped all the way around the pepper? I haven't made them yet but want to soon. I was under the impression that you just put the cheese inside the half of pepper over the sausage and then wrapped it with bacon? Can you explain to me what you did there? Thanks bigred and also, go Hawks.
Hi Kurt, I cut the stem off the Jalapeno, then slice length wise in half. I then scoop out the seeds and either leave the rib if I want them hot or take it all out if I want mild. Place a litle smokey in the half, like it is in a little boat. Then I slice a piece of cream cheese off about 3/8 thick and kind of mold it over the little smokie so that it forms the other half of the jalapeno. It will then look like you have a whole jalapeno again only one half is cream cheese and the other is the jalapeno. Wrap with a slice of bacon and put a toothpick through to hold it on. smoke for 2 hours at 210 and continue to cook at 210 until bacon is as crisp as you like it.
That's it, and they are most excellent.
Terry
Hey Bigred,
Where did you find those great looking peppers. I went to my local stop & shop and they were quite small. I went online to research other recipes for ABT's and one said buy a jar of large pickled Jalapeno peppers. Those were impossible to find. Everyone I found was sliced for sandwich purposes. Any suggestions? Maybe, I will try a produce or farmer type market. Please Help! I have been dying to try these out.
In my neck of the woods large jalapenos are kinda a hit and miss, one week they are huge and the next small, you just have to make do with whats available. Either way large or small they are still the bomb! ;D
C
I haven't had a probem getting the bigger ones. Most of the time I get them at Super Target. If I couldn't get big ones there we have a Whole Foods here in town that usually has them as well. I don't think the pickeled ones would be that great to use in ABT's.

I remain...Cheesy and silent...but VERY amused!!!
I did some VERY LARGE penos last week, with my wife's help of course! :o There were really more penos than I have ever had before (penos aren't really my thing.....) so my loving wife stepped in and took the bulk of the penos without a problem. Once she showed me how to do it, everything went fine. HHHHHmmmmmm.... these things don't taste half bad! Can't quite get past the white cheesy stuff that comes out when you bite down, but ,other than that , they don't taste half bad! :-\ ::) :o ;) ;) Don't think I'll ever do them by myself again, they will be more of a special treat just for the wife.....
O well, next she REALLY wants to try a big ol' fatty ?!?!?! :o :o ::)
gotta run..... wish me luck!
I'm usually not at a loss of words....but all I can say is congrats and good luck!! Uh...did ya use mesquite! ;D
C
:o :o : :o
Call me slow. I had to re-read Firerescueman's post before I finally got it. I am usually the first one on board with the inuendo...geeesh!
My wife loves the penos as well, but only mine! Her favorite part is the smokey flavor of the cream cheese.
ok...boys...you're gonna get in trouble...I truly want to contribute but...not a good idea I bet!! :(
QuoteUh...did ya use mesquite!
nope.........cherry, actually! ::) ;) ;) :o
y'all are right..... I'd better stop before I get in trouble and get kicked out of the forum........... I wouldn't know what to do without my newfound friends! ;) :-\
LOL
Jeff
I, for one, am truly appalled at the innuendo. To take a perfectly clean and moral act like ABT's and turn them into something that is degrading is truly beyond my imagination. :'( We have sunk to the lowest common denominator.
I remain, giggling like a school girl ...............hee, hee 8)
Oh yeah right Giggles! :)
I shall remain at a distance..........drinking of course.........heavily..............not a peep out of me. :D ;D ;)
