Title: Easy stuffer cleanup ideas
Post by: drano on December 31, 2008, 09:32:23 PM
Here's a couple things I do to make stuffer cleanup quick and easy.

Use a dowel rod to push the meat out of the tube when you are done.  I have a 1/4" rod which works well for the 3/8" tube.  On bigger tubes, I put a wad of folded up paper towel on the end of the dowel rod, and push that thru.  A bigger dowel rod would work too.

I clean the inside of the 3/8" stuffer tube with a gun barrel cleaning rod and .40 caliber nylon brush.  Get the rod at your local sporting goods/big box store.  You may need to look around a little more for .40 caliber nylon brushes.  The cleaning rod & brush make quick cleaning of that small tube.

Hope these ideas will help others as much as all of your posts have helped me.

Good tips. I'm going to save these ideas. Right now I use my KitchenAid with the meat grinder attachment. A grinder my be on a future list for me. Right now I use an Alton Brown tip: run a couple of pieces of bread through the grinder after use. It makes clean up so much easier..
