That website might be legit but be careful if you use it.  More than likely they will charge you a fee to claim your $.

Here's what the CT state website says and I'm sure it's the same in all states  (KyNola may be able to chime in on Ky, I'm sure he knows :D being a banker)

Recovering Unclaimed Property held by the State Treasurer's Office is free!

Consumer Alert!  The Connecticut State Treasurer's Office is issuing a consumer alert to remind the public that using a consulting service is not required in order to collect unclaimed property.  The State Treasurer's Office says that anyone may claim their property in two ways — free of charge:

Visit the Treasury's official website, http://www.ctbiglist/. Enter your name, download a claim form and follow the instructions; or
Call 1-800-833-7318, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ...

Outside consultants, often called "finders," have contacted Connecticut residents and offered to search for their names.  Connecticut law permits finders to charge as much as 10% of the value of any property found.  While owners of unclaimed property or their heirs may choose to use a finder service, the Treasurer's Office wants to remind the public that the State charges no fee to claim property that may already belong to them.

So in CT it's legal for someone to charge a fee but you can go directly to the state for free!

Most states do have their own unclaimed fund site, that is run the the state comptroller's office. In New York all unclaimed funds must be turned over to the state, and they will hold the money until it is claimed.

Here is a link to the New York State Unclaimed Funds site. I check it periodically. I've never found my name, but have found funds for a few relatives.
