How clean is "Clean"?

Hi, All:

I seasoned my BDS (4 rack) and then later that night cooked up some lovely salmon so that my Easter turkey wouldn't be the first thing cooked in a pristine, non-smoky smoker....  But I've read that the smoker has to be cleaned after use....

Question:  "Clean" as in the sides, back of door, back and bottom are bright, shiny and reflective?  Or "clean" as in the back, inside door and sides are wiped down, but the racks, diffuser tray, water dish and tray are bright and shiny?  (I made it all bright and shiny and am now afraid I took out some lovely "seasoning."

Please advise so that I can do it right.  Thank you!!

Yup you did take some of the season off. When you clean up after a smoke just throw the v-tray racks and water bowl in the dishwasher. Once in a while clean the door seal with some rubbing acohol and that should about do it. Occasionally take the screw out of the top vent and clean around the hole and the back of the vent and you are all set. Smoke on and welcome to the forum Island girl.

The inside does not get cleaned. The darker it gets the better the food tastes. Like Quarlow stated, clean the trays, V-tray, water bowl. Wipe down the door seal. Check the puck burner cause gunk will build up and it will not burn the pucks as well as it should. I use a scotch brite to clean the gunk.
To be honest I only clean the V-tray and water bowl after a couple smokes & clean the food trays every time.

Oops yeah I forgot the puck burner. I just scrape mine with a putty knife being careful not to scratch it. Good catch Pens.

Ooops!  I took some seasoning off!  =/

Thank you, All!  Won't do it again!

You're the BEST!

Well the good news is it will replace itself. But for your punishment we order "more smoked food" put threw that smoker. ;D ;D ;D
