Trying to decide between et-7 and et-73. Can the et-7 ACCURATELY read the cabin temp as well as the et-73. Going to use a PID to sustain temps, but want remote assurance.

If you want remote assurance on the Cabinet temp, get the 73.

Also, I bought an extra food probe and sometimes use it in the smoker position and monitor two meats.

I have an ET7 and it works perfectly. I checked it with a temperature calibrator at work and it was good.

Good @ what, accurate cabin temp reading?

I checked it at 220F. It was within a couple degrees.

I just ordered an ET 7, and am happy to hear I didn't mess up... ;D  Any advice for probe placement to read cabin temp with the ET 7?  (Still saving my pennies for a PID, but all things come in time...)

Here is an old post covering this discussion. You might get some good info from it.

I would keep it just below but not touching the food. After all that is the area you are most concerned about. After you get a PID then you can use both ET-7 probes for IT on separate pieces of food.
