Just wanted to share with you guys a little of what has been happening around here.

These two are right across the road at my Mom's house. There is a 25 foot bank from the road down to the flat then it is about 200 feet to the creek normally. Just for some perspective. This creek is not the one that the dam broke on but it does feed into it. Normally I can walk across the creek with rubber boots on. The main creek is where you see the ripples in front of the three little trees in the middle.

DUH!!! I don't think the sign is needed

As your looking at the pictures they are kind of a panoramic from left to right. If its still there, My deer stand is right about where the top of the cornfield goes off of the picture on the right side in the picture with the road sign on it.

Looks like you got an uphill grade to your Moms house? Is it enough?

Hopefully you have seen the water this high in the past?

Stay safe and dry Mom!

Here's hoping the water rises no more.

I saw pictures of this and the dam rupture on the news.  I had no idea it was this close to one of my forum friends.  I hope the worst is over.

Believe me that sign is needed, every year when it rains out here, some idiot tries to drive through it. We have serious flooding because it never rains, so all the roads get washed out. It became such a problem that they made a stupid motorist law. If you get yourself stuck driving through a flooded street you get ticketed and fined for the rescue expenses.

I aint moving!! I likes having 4 seasons. Unlike you southern fellas that just have Hot and Hotter.

Yes TestRocket we have seen the water do this before but usually not this high. The water in the first picture where the creek usually is, is about 20 feet deep I'm guessing. Nothing but a thing couple neighbors and some skid loaders to get the gravel out of the ditch and back on the road and we are in business again until the next time. Oh yeah it is forecast to rain every day this week as well.

You tell em! I would give anything for four seasons. And not salt, pepper, onions, and garlic!

By the way, chunk a big glob of night crawlers on a hook near that tree in the eddie of the current. Gaurantee'd catfish worth cooking!!

Stay safe!

I'm tired of the rain. And the heat. And the humidity. Wanna use my new boat. Deer seasons coming. Then turkey. then fishing again. Gotta love Iowa.

Where's the guest deer stand?  Really been meaning to start accumulating some Iowa points for "someday".
