I dont know for the rest of Canada but, here in Quebec, we dont really celebrate Thanksgiving.

It's pretty much just a long weekend! ;D

There is almost no traditional fare, but some people will have turkey.

Slamdunk

Thanks for the good wishes!!

Traditional? Well turkey is pretty popular (and because our Thanksgiving is a month earlier than yours, we have a nice rest period before our next big turkey dinner at Xmas) and at our household, with serve the turkey with mashed spuds and gravy, most likely sweet potatoes or yams and corn. Desert being pumpkin pie with a little ice cream - if you didn't pig out too much on the turkey. (Question - If we pig out on turkey, why don't we turkey out on pig? Just wondering...)

I was going to smoke the turkey but my better half suggested I BBQ some sockeye salmon to go with the turkey as we'll have a large crowd for dinner and a lot of them like salmon.
Here's the recipe I'm going to use for the salmon. http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/salmon1.html

Our kids will be coming home and my wife's sister's family will be joining us as well. Should be a good family time!

In our family the tradtional is STUFFED turkey, mashed spuds, gravy, mashed turnip (sometimes mashed with the carrots), yams, brussel sprouts with cheese sauce, carrots, apple salad, parsnips for my dad, pumpkin and apple pie.
A couple of years ago I made a sweet potato pie and it was awesome, then the next year I made it again and it was not so great. Then I figured out why.......the first one was made with yams and the second was made with sweet potato. So I am going to try again with yams.
Of course this could have been avoided if I could remember what I did from one year to the next. I should reallly start taking Ginko biloba or something. Or I could write things down...now where did I put that pen.
I like to walk threw life on the path of least resistance. But sometimes the path needs a good kick in the ass.
