I have an original smoker, about a year old.  It's worked perfectly until today.  I set it up per usual, and for a bit the heating element was working, but then nothing, no heat at all at any temperate setting, and the heat indicator light is not on.

I've checked all connections and they are fine, as well the outlet providing power.  The fuse is fine; I'm running it through a temperature controller in any event.   Even plugging it in directly to the outlet does not work.

Obviously something's out.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Bob

Hello rrs711, Let's start with the Smoke Generator, does the light come on?

Next if that does come on how about the cabinet light? I had this problem back on the 4th of July and found that it was the inline fuse on the back of the cabinet. When I called Brian at Bradley he quickly should me how to determine if this was the cause.

Let me know first if the Smoke Generator light is coming on! Also Bradley customer service department might be open today.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Yes, I checked the slider control at all positions. Nothing.

I checked the fuse on the smoke generator, it's fine.

The smoke generator works fine.  But as I mentioned, it's not in the circuit.  I control the smoker through a Auber WS PID.  The Auber is powered on and works fine.  The outlet of the Auber is ok.   So it's definitely in the smoker unit itself.

Thanks,

You may have a bad heating element.

Have you tried hooking the box straight to electricty to see if any heat comes from the element?

rrs711

Yes, I tried that:  plugged the smoker unit directly to power outlet.  Nothing.

Ok, bad heating element.  I just I call Bradley.

IF the box got excessively hot, you could have a blown thermo fuse.

rrs711

Box never got hot at all.  Got to about 101, and then died.

Hi Bob

It could be the inline fuse has blown or your heat element is burnt out
You can test the heat element with a meter for continunity that will tell you if it is good
the same can be done for the inline fuse which is located behind the back cover of the smoker tower
you cannot tell if it is burnt out by looking at it you will need a meter

Here is a picture of the inline fuse so you know what you are looking for.

Hey thanks Brian, I fall asleep after a long weekend of smoking and didn't monitor this post.

Great job and glad you had that pic.
