...and thank you all for so much info.  This forum is clearly a cut above!

So by way of introduction:  I am smoking in Maryland, outside of Washington, D.C. but come by way of New Jersey.  I travelled extensively for work in Virginia many years ago and made it a point of visiting literally every BBQ joint in that state.  So I am partial to red, sweet BBQ sauces (sorry, N.C.).  I do most of the cooking for my wife and two kids.  I have a 3 year old recipe website with a couple of hundred recipes posted (Thai, Indian and of course my Mom's) but now I must update it now with all my new smoker recipes.

I've been cooking ribs and Butts using my home oven method for years.  But last month a friend shipped me a gift(!) of a BOS so now I am in the thick of it.  I've loaded up with pucks, aluminum pucks, beer can stands, larger foil water pans, digital thermometer, French's mustard, rubs and sauces.  I've avoided burning the house down (no more dry bowl smoldering pucks) with help from this forum and for that, many thanks.  I've unstuck my BOS vent and door seals with other tips from everyone.  I would post a photo of my first barked covered BBQ Butt (so good!) here, but I have not figured out how to upload photos yet.  The "Insert image" button is not working for me.

And yet - Yikes, I've had two chicken disasters!  So I will cast off my normal male-bound refusal to ask for directions (I'm never lost, just taking the scenic route) because this forum is so great.  I'll post my chicken disaster call for help in another forum section.  I hope I can help others in return.

Thanks again
