I was under the impression that companies in general were obliged to supply spares for products for a number of years after manufacture. In the UK I have actually heard the figure of 7 years quoted. I am therefore suprised by a Quote in an earlier post that spares were not available for the Smoker generator unit. Only complete units can be bought!

A couple members where able to change out parts with items from other appliances that worked, but there is no OEM replacement parts for the generator. Not unless you want to purchase them in the thousands as one member found out.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

Hi Osibisa,

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">In the UK I have actually heard the figure of 7 years quoted.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

Yes, the figure 7 years is often quoted but I don't think there is any obligation for the manufacturer/agent to provide spare parts or a repair service for that time or indeed any time other than provisions for the warranty period.

I own a boat and some spare parts I wanted were not available and that was within a couple of years of stopping manufacture of that particular model.I had to look elsewhere as it was out of warranty.

Conversely, I work in a hospital and many of the manufacturers we deal with undertake to provide spares, service and maintenance for a minimum of 7 years after manufacture, this being the typical lifespan of the equipment historically.Whenever I buy something in my work enviroment I always check this out but not in my personnel life..... perhaps a lesson to be learnt!!

The only site that I can find that does have a limited number of spares for the BS is Chez Bubba but I would suspect the electrical components listed are for 110V models.

Grakka, the UK distributor does not appear to list any spare parts. However I would suspect a reasonable percentage of the electrical components are generic such as the advance motor and are available elsewhere.... just a matter of putting in the legwork to find them!! The biggest problem will be those specific to the BS!!

I would agree that some aspects of the product leave a bit to be desired.

My heater element on the puck burner has just packed up but fortunately it is still under warranty, just about to test whether the UK warranty back up is as good as it seems to be in the US!! Initial impressions from my email from John Watkins is that it is as good.

Hi Chez,

Yes, I am sure he will. I have had a couple of dealings with John to date and have been impressed.

Once I have got it sorted I will post on the forum, it will be useful for people to know if the legendary warranty back up in the US is mirrored in the UK!?

I plan to make a separate post for anyone with an interest or concern regarding warranty back up in the UK but, as you predicted, John Watkins came up trumps.

Warranty back up in the UK seems every bit as good as the US.[:D][:D]
