I've used my digital 4-rack in the Minnesota winters plenty in the past and had no issues until last week...everything turned on fine, no E1 for connection issues.  Smoke generator functioned properly, oven turned on and heated up but never got past 55 or 60.  When I made prime ribs on x-mas it took about 20-30 minutes for the oven temp to reach the 200 degree range.  that was the last time I'd used it prior to last week.  I ended up just doing a cold smoke (essentially) with my ribs and finished them in my oven.  But I'm concerned, is the heating element possibly going out?  Are there any tests you all know about that I can try?  Does anyone know the cost of a new heating element?

elements are about $16.

Plug you cabinet direct to a outlet.

If it doesn't heat up then either element, fuse, or thermo fuse is out.

(Or possibility a wire has come loose.)

If you have a volt meter check for voltage going to the element (120 VAC) with it turned on. That is the easiest way to know if it's the element or not! Be careful and good luck!

test the voltage at the heater and overcareful not to touch any metal  except the terminals of the heater
