I have a Bradley I got about 4 years ago.  Has a 500 watt element and briquette advance.  A couple of months ago I replaced the element and it worked fine for a couple of months.  I use it all the time as a smoker and oven.  I have owned about 6 different smokers and this one actually works like I want it to!  I live in SE Texas where it gets HOT and I use it so as not to warm the house.  Anyway, the last time I went to use it, it didn't work.  No juice to the main box.  Briquette advance worked fine.  Today, I went out and dismantled it to try to figure out what was going on.  I put in a new element and checked the little button (thermostat?) on the inside top left.  Everything worked fine, still no electricity.  I was looking at all the parts and noticed a little white plastic component (1/4 inch long) that a appeared to be a capacitor in-line on a wire going to what I believe to be a thermostat.  I removed it, reconnected the line and it works fine.  Can someone clue me in on what this part is and its function?  Please, don't play with electricity.  Make sure there is no electrical connection to the Bradley before trying anything.

It may be the overtemp fuse. call bradley and they can tell you

Hi gbrown

The part you are referring to is called an In-line Fuse
It is a thermal fuse and is part of the safety features of the smokers.

Here is a picture just to make sure we are talking about the same part.

I would recommend you replace that fuse as well

Brian.
