Thanks everyone! Ya'll perked up my spirits more than you might imagine.   Carolyn it's not much of one, but it will be my first one.

Hi Caney,
My husband is an artist for a living and from what we have learned is that shows (of any size) lead to many things.  More folks see your work and meet you, which makes them feel even more connected to your paintings and wanting to own them.  Also, shows lead to commission work, too.  Someone will see a painting you did of for example a brown trout but maybe they want a rainbow or brookie, they'll hire you to do that.
