Hello all,

I brought my Bradley home and am trying to determine where the best location for it should be.

My immediate thought was on the deck outside the living room, but my wife gave me "the look" and expressed concern about dripping meat juices and foot traffic on the carpet. I guess she has a point.

I found myself immediately limited in the search by the electrical outlets available without using an extension cord, which I don't want to do. Anyone have a similar experience?

Also, the deck location would have been a northern exposure, which could be a factor with wind, cold, etc. since I live in Minnesota.

What were some of your considerations in finding a permanent home for your smoker, or do you move yours around depending on the conditions?

Great forum, BTW.

Regards,

Smudge

OK, Power is the first issue, can you give it juice, in a sufficient short and best grade coard to provide enough AMPs.

Next Weather, obviously no rain.  Or if rain, protected from rain.  (Snow also)

Next Wind, reduce wind impacts as that is a major issue that will increase cook times drastically.

Finally ease of operation and transportation of materials.  Its never nice to drip things on the floor, of course your pets would disagree but for social acceptable and reduce conflict, don't do it.

And yes, if you need to move and need to cook.  Move it around.  Unless like some of us, you find a home for it that all factors work in any condition.  For me its in the garage, pending some purchases and setup at this point.

Move it around.  On a nice sunny day with no wind, I like to have it on my back deck (north facing) sipping on a cold one utilizing my patio chairs.  On a typical South Alberta windy day, I move to front of house where my garage provides very good protection.

Thats the beauty of this unit, its super light weight and we have the option of being mobile.

Thanks guys. The portability really is an important feature. Now that I think of it, it would have to be an unusually nasty day before I'd have to cancel plans. I can actually smoke on any side of the house depending on the wind, and have a nice eave overhang on the west side to protect the smoker in all but the most driving rain.

Well, I'm going to make some smoked brats. Looking forward to a busy day putzing. Makes a man awful thirsty.

Welcome Smudge,

Climate shouldn't be a problem for you. I'm a few miles N of you and the garlic sausage I have going now is coming along just fine. I started them 3.5 hours ago at -13C, no wind. The IT is at 140F. Just about ready. mmmm.
