Doing a simple recipe:  Blazin' Pistachios.  Nothing to it.  Make the sauce, coat the nuts, smoke for 2 hours @ 225F.  Any idiot could do this, right?  Well, that's what I thought.  So moved the smoker to the middle of the patio, away from any structure, preheated to 225F, stuck in the coated nuts, fed the first puck to the preheated smoke generator, then ran away for 90 minutes to do some errands.  Get home and go to check on the progress and what do I hear?  Beep, beep, beep . . .  Look at the display and I get an E message and see that only 1 puck has burned!  Crap!!!  An hour and a half have passed, so after a cathartic round of cursing, smacking of the smoke generator, and manual advancement of pucks(using a wooden skewer!), get the smoke going again.  Recipe calls for 2 hours @ 225F with smoke, so I kill the heating element and let the smoke roll with the door cracked to keep the temp below 140F (shoulda used my mailbox cold smoker attachment).  Burned all the remaining pucks and now have the racks cooling on the countertop.  We'll see what they develop into as the sun comes up tomorrow!

So the question is:  What happened?   Why, mid-smoke, did the generator take a dump?  I regularly wirebrush the approach and heating surface, so that shouldn't have caused any problem.   Don't want to think I have to watch the feeder every minute of every smoke!!!

Make sure your bisquitte tube (holder) is in all the way. Good luck.

Good point Mike - I had the same issue once and found the tube was not all the way down which caused the biscuits to catch on the lip at the bottom of the feeder tube and then jam. Pushed it down and problem gone.

Thanks Mike.  Checked it and it was not firmly seated.  I've got some jerky to do later this week and will see if that did the trick.
