Ever see an bald eagle swim?

This footage was taken at Mallard Lakes subdivision in Baton Rouge.
Someone had shot a Nutria (a beaver like rodent), and it was floating dead in the water.
Wait until you see what this eagle did to bring that Nutria in.

That is cool. When I worked on the fish boats I was watching an eagle while we had a harbour day. That is when it is just to dang rough to even fish so you hid in a little bay somewhere out of the storm. Anyway, this eagle was circling around about 40 feet above the water. I watch him circle for about 5 minutes till he finally swooped down and made his grab. I didn't know what he was after till a little later but he grabbed something and unfortunately it was too big for him. He struggled around in the water trying to swim for awhile but the tide was getting the best of him. Another young deckhand was there watching too and they had their dinghy in the water. So I said to him we should go help him. He said jump in and he would drive. Off we went after this eagle. I had grabbed a pair of leather gloves just in case. We came up behind the eagle just so his head would be as far away from my hands as possible. I reached over the front of the zodiac and basically grabbed him from just behind his wings around his body. He tried to turn and grab me several times and his screeching at us was intense.Since he couldn't get a hold of me we slowly motored to the beach with the eagle and whatever he had in his talons. We got to the beach and I had to jump in the water as he was pretty tall and his prey was starting to make splashes. I was in ice cold water up to almost my waist but managed to get the bird close to the beach. Then I pointed him out to the deep and walked backwards up the beach. I then realized that the eagle had about a 25 lb salmon in his claws and lucky for me he wasn't letting go, or he couldn't let go.I got him up on dry land with him still squawking at me and he didn't stop till we moved off a ways with the boat. Then he proceeded to have a good big meal. I rescued a moose calf once too but that is another story.
