Just got up to do my first ever butt and guess what

its pouring with rain and 50+mph winds  :o :o

but i think it will be ok to light the charcoal smoker up in the shed as long as nothing is near it

there isnt much in the shed anyway and if i open the window a little it should let the smoke out.

just not sure how hot it will get under neath, but as long as i keep an eye on it i thinkit will be ok, been looking forward to this for to long to call it off  :)

I think I would wait until the weather allowed. Not only do you have heat and smoke issues, but carbon monoxide as well. Your life and health (not to mention the cost of your possessions) is simply not worth it.

Oh yes i should have said, i built the shed myself and all but 1 side is hinged so i can open any side that will be protected from the wind

ive also been busy today and made a smoke corner

basically ive made a smoke house with a concrete block base took a section of shed out so one side is open, but protected a few feet away from the neighbours fence, it kinda looks like a lean to on the side of the shed
just have to put the roof on it and it will be ready to go. oh and i have to treat it

about 2 hrs after i typed first post the weather changed so i just knocked up a quick shelter for the smoker and fired her up

put the butt in at about 7am and the ribs went on at 12pm so hopefully around 6-7 tonight i will have some good food

i take your point about the dangers of doing it in the shed but i would have opened the shed up first and i only have a lawn mower in there,, but i agree its not sensible to do it in a normal shed,

thanks all

p.s i will get some pics of the smoke house when the roof is on
