I was out walking in the woods this morning turkey hunting with my dad when we saw an eagle's nest.
It's not a great picture but I circled the nest.  I had never seen one before.

I live in northern Ontario and when I Was a kid and a teenager we never saw eagles here. DDT and the like wiped out any of them around here. But since all that has been banned and about 15 years later there are Bald Eagle's every where. All the lakes I fish have at least one nest on them if not two. I really hate to bring this up but the garbage dump down the road has at least three at one time hanging around. Very nice birds and I'm glad to see they are coming back in strength. I remember fishing a lake called Lake Nipigon. Home of the record Spec ever caught and seeing baby Bald eagles and hoping I could break the record.....still trying to this day. Those baby eagles would have jumped into the boat if i let them

Good for you.I'm so happy that your able to get out turkey hunting.Hope you got lucky.Smoked turkey tastes great. If not bothered the eagles will use that nest year after year, getting bigger and bigger. We have lots of them here in Nova Scotia.Bald eagles,Ospreys,Owls and Hawks.I love them all.
If your looking back at the things you missed,You won't know what hit you.

We have a place just a few miles from our home where the eagles migrate to in November and December there are between 400 and 600 eagles here and in the middle of January they leave to rebuild there nests and by March the young have hatched around here...glad to hear that you have found the nest and if there are eagles there they should have young that they are feeding...

Yes, that is one.  I tried to get a picture of one landing on the nest but of course that didn't occur until after I gave up.
But I'm going to go back and try to get that picture hopefully.
We saw six elk too.

There's two nests here on Lake Manawa, one on the west side and on the east side of the lake.
If we have a nice normally cold midwest winter come the middle of January through the first part of March there are anywhere between 30 - 50 eagles on and around the lake. This year due an unusally warm winter they were mostly hanging around the river(Missouri River), probably saw a couple dozen.

The Decorah Eaglets are just about 6 weeks old. Guessing yours are about the same age Carolyn. Getting close to heading out on their own.

Hi Chris!
That is so cool :) Is that a live cam?

I went out turkey hunting in that direction yesterday and there was a osprey harassing one of the parent eagles as is circled above the nest.
I would like to get closer, but I've been hunting each time and I don't want to cross onto this property while toting my gun.
It wouldn't look to good ;)
