OK so decided to do some Gouda today being that it's raining.

Fired up the smoker got the smoke rolling, opened the door and

BOOM

The bottom hinge disconnects and here I am basically holding the door in my hand while smoke is billowing.

It seems that the bottom plastic trim on the door broke and that is what the hinge pin goes into.  I was able to get in lined up so that I could finish the cheese.

Now comes the question, where do I get those pieces?  It is the lower door trim and then piece below it that covers the legs.

Yard and Pool has the other parts I need...New seal, hinge pins, etc.

Any thoughts?

First off is there warranty left ie: is it less than a year old? If so contact Brian at Bradley and they will send you a new door. If however you don't have warranty left there have been a few decent repair jobs to doors in the last year or so and someone will post a link to it soon I am sure. I suffer from CRS so while I remember it has been done and done well, I can't remember who did it. Hang tight and you will be rewarded. ;)

Thanks guys...I am going to try to get the replacement pieces from Brian and then re-enforce them.  Hopefully they have come up with a solution.

Just in case your warranty expired, the door cost about 50$ + shipping.

Brian got back to me.  They sell the plastic strip as a part so I'll be ordering it on Monday...

Toker

Only the plastic strip? If so, pls let me know the price. Also,  if they are selling the plastic strip that goes on top of the door let me know the price pls and you could order it at the same time in case. Mine broke also. I had to buy an other door. But only the strip should be cheaper to buy. THX for the info man ;)

I have to give Brian at Bradley and the Customer Service a huge KUDO for their service.

Great communication by Brian...thanks.

Called the 18665087514 Cust Service number.

Extremely pleasant and helpful call.  Parts are ordered and shipping tomorrow.  Will have it back together this weekend.

Bradley Smokers...you have a loyal customer for life...

Hey John,
Any chance you could post a pic of the repair? Just curious to see/hear how it went back together and how quickly the parts made it back to you.

Thanks,

Yes I will.  The trim piece was backordered and they were nice enough to call me to let me know.

Received the parts last week.  Assembled it yesterday.

I didn't modify the door for reenforcement.

Toker

Did you received a full door or just the strip like you expected? If just the strip how much did you pay pls?

I just ordered the strip and it was around $6...can't remember exactly.  I also replaced the seal...what a PITA that was.  If I have to do that again, I may just buy the door already assembled.  LOL
