I just got it today and seasoned it like it said to do. I set the digtal setting for the oven temp to 150 like it said. But it went all the way to 182. Can anyone tell me this happened or did I get a faulty unit? Thank Jeff

Welcome railshiner

Temp swings are pretty common with the bradley. Great little smoker but not so great on holding a steady temp.

Invest in a external Digital Thermometer.

Hi Jeff;

Welcome to the forum.

The DBS is controlled by a thermostat, like the oven in your kitchen, and like the oven in your kitchen you will have temperature swing. The swings will be less  when you place some food in the smoker. The majority of foods that are cooked in the Bradley, these temperature swings will not have an effect on the finished foods.

A digital thermometer won't control the temp swing, it will just show how much they fluctuate.  A PID controller will regulate the temp to within 1-2 degrees of the setpoint.

A PID is the way to go.

I have the same smoker, the temp really swings, I just set it to where I need it and try not to look at it  ;D. I've never had any overheating issues of anything I'm smoking.
