So, what's the story here.  Mexican flag on a pole....assuming picture is taken in Mexico as flag on top, and either stupid person or someone in distress flying flag upside down or gun rights person who thought it was cute thing to do to protest sometime on July 4, 2002 to show people to embrace freedom.

My take on it....I find it offensive and inappropriate.

it is offensive...

that photo is from los angeles last week...

illegal immigrants were protesting the house bill calling for a border fence and deportation of illegal immigrants...

they took the usa flag off the pole at a local school... put the mexican flag on top... put the usa flag upside down under the mexican flag...

this is what i sent to senators and house reps:

re: immigration...

stop calling illegal aliens immigrants... there are immigrants which are legal and properly documented... all and other so called immigrants are illegal aliens... call them illegal aliens because  that is what they are... illegal...

vote no to amnesty for illegal aliens...

vote no to amnesty for anyone who is not presently a us citizen or a properly documented immigrant...

vote yes to mandatory six figure employer fines and mandatory multiyear prison time for those who hire any worker who is not a us citizen or a properly documented immigrant...

vote yes to building a border fence from the gulf of mexico to the pacific ocean...

vote yes to staff the border fence with adequate border patrol and to provide necessary deportation facilities...

you do all of this or you and your party will never get my vote again and i will make all my monetary donation to the opposing party...

take the chance while you still have the choice...

Right on Owster.  But do you think the same incompetent SOBs who've wasted billions of dollars, and thousands of young American lives looking for nonexistent WMDs, bankrupted the country fiscally with tax cuts for the rich and morally with the Terry Shivo fiasco can get this one right?  :o

My job is providing onsite OSHA compliance medical services at factories.  I have done this testing for many years in the midwest, on the east coast, and for the last 5 years on the west coast.

About 10 years ago I noticed an influx of Hispanic immigrants entering into the industrial workforce.  The last 5 years has gone beyond influx and is resulting in a deluge of Hispanic immigrants which is displacing the traditional American working class .

Facotries that once were 90% Americans are now only 10% Americans.  In most cases it is because management will terminate the employment Americans on minor occurrences and replace them with a Hispanic for approximately 1/3 the wage.

Example:  One factory that prints circulars for newspapers in the SoCal area once had 200 employees making $26 per hour for skilled trades such as electricians and $18 per hour for machine line labor.  Now $26 for skilled labor (only 10 folks) and $7 per hour for machine line labor (190 folks).

All of the Americans who were making $18 per hour just 5 years ago have been terminated.  Some of which had 20+ years of service with the company.  They were replaced with Hispanics who do not speak English and for the most part do not read Spanish.

OSHA requires social security numbers for compliance.  It's a daily occurrence where more than one person will use the identical social security number.  I have to track it down with the factory supervisor to straighten it out and often I'm given a complete new identity for the individual.  Another social security number and date of birth and sometime a complete new name for the exact same individual.

I was at a factory on payday and noticed a mobile bank cashing paychecks.  I asked the boss what that was about and he said the bank knows the checks are good because they are walking out the break room door and going directly to the van to cash them.  No need to verify funds or ID.

The very next day at the same factory I notices what I though was the same mobile bank.  I asked the boss  if was still payday and he said it was a document van.  After further investigation the folks inside the van were selling single documents and complete document packages right there on company property.  This is a national company with many locations and thousands of employees.  350 employees at this one site.

For $20 you could get one the following:  matricula consular card, birth certificate, social security card, voter registration card, California driver license and some other obscure immigration papers.  For $100 you get the whole package.  The van had photo equipment, computers, card printers and document printers.

Lastly, I was in the salad bowl area south of San Jose at a plant with more than 1000 workers.  I noticed the parking lot was full of Expeditions, Escalades and Hummers and the like at shift change then was mostly empty for the rest of the shift.  I asked where these folks were car pooling from and where did they get the money for those vehicles.  I was told that 3 families to 6 families will rent a house and buy 1 big vehicle.  When one family gets off shift they will drive the vehicle home then when the next family goes on shift they will drive the vehicle to work and hand it off the family getting off shift.  I would not have believed it if I hadn't observed it over a 5 day period.   1000 employees.  900 could speak no English and read no Spanish.  I left that job with only 600 complete records including names, date of births and socials.  300 records had no socials because the supervisors just couldn't be bothered with compliance.

That's an amazing story owrstrich. Scarey too. :o :o :o That upsets me to no end to hear that long time employees get the axe after so many years. The oil support companies do the same thing up here to avoid retirment benifits. It's a scarey time we all live in. I'm ready for a small cabin out in the middle of nowhere. Fly in only so I don't get visitors unless I go get them. :)
