Got a Blizzard going on today so thought I would do a little "on line shopping"

Want to know if the Thermapen is worth the $90 or is there something else out there as got and fast for less money.

Thanks

IMHO:

It is a great thermometer. I have 2 and have given them as gifts.

It is fast, accurate, and well-built. Over a year so far on the factory batteries.

I understand their customer service is great, but I have not had to use it.

No backlight, but I think that it contributes to the long battery life.

Not made in China. the Thermopen is made in the UK.

I also have one of their IR units for surface temps.

Yes!  Very worth it.
Excellent when smoking sausage-can get the temp quick, then close the door!
I also use it for grilling--I poke everything to make sure it's done, but not overdone--steak, chops, burgers, chicken.

I have 2 of them. I bought both as refurbished units. The first 1 I bought crapped out shortly after the warranty period. When I contacted them, they replaced it with no questions asked.
Sometimes they offer the refurbed units on line as a special. I got my first one just by calling their customer service and asked if they had any refurbed units. I got it back then for $79 including shipping.
So yes I think they are worth it.

I have bought several refurbished sale ones for family members and myself. They are a great, accurate, reliable, instant read thermometer. Well worth the money IMHO.

If you wait they will probably have another sale after the holiday.

I have also heard good things about the Maverick PT-100
Natural Gas 4 burner stainless RED with auto-clean
2 TBEs(1 natural gas & 1 LP gas)
OBS(Auberins dual probe PID, 900w finned element & convection fan mods)
2011 Memphis Select Pellet Smoker
BBQ Grillware vertical smoker(oven thermostat installed & converted to natural gas)

Sounds like that's the way to go then.....Thank all

I got a refurb too and love it. Great for the smoker since all your heat ain't gone cause it is so much faster than my others. Love it.
