Tesla13

Hello everyone, After years of begging for scraps from all my friends that smoke i decided to get my own smoker. So with beer in hand and rub all over my ribs I fired up my DBS for the first time today.  I have been reading the forums here today and suffering the same fate as many who have posted.  Smoker running cooler than anticipated but we'll get thru it.  Just have to finish off in the oven after smoke runs out.  Look forward to reading more of the forum and learning from those who have walked the trail before me.

Helps to keep the smoker out of the wind.  Wind sucks the heat right out...
Welcome and good luck!  We like pics!

 I have an OBS so dont know too much about the DBS. But as STLstyle mentioned. Watch the drafts. Also keep the vent wide open. Are you using a decanted outlet? It is also a good idea to get a Maverick remote thermometer. Not bashing or nothing, but it sure does seem there a lot of problems/issues with the DBS?
If you get a chance, post some pictures of them ribs, were all hungry, always.

Smoker is in the garage with garage door slightly open.  Smoking the hell out of the garage but temp will not rise above 130.  Opened box and heating element is not glowing.  reading forums it appears my smoke generator is providing the heat.  The outlet I am using is not the problem, no extension cord or power strip.  $40 dollars worth of ribs appear to be not cooking.  I will check connections after I'm done and ribs are in the kitchen oven cooking.  All wires in back are secure, needless to say I'm disappointed. I'm also concerned with all the threads talking about modifying the DBS with dual elements and pid's.  I didn't spend $500.00 only to engineer their design.

 I think your are right, the smoke generator with give you temps of what you are seeing. Double check that everything is plunged in and the controller is set right. Like I said, I have an OBS so dont know too much about the digitalis. Sounds like your getting good smoke on them ribs. It may be time to wrap in foil and finnish in the oven at 220-225 for a couple hours. May be a late dinner but it will worth it.
Someone else will come along with better help I'm sure. Wish I could help more.

Hi Tesla13;

Although the mod enhance the performance of the Bradley, you don't need them. At this time your heat problem is due to the element is not working. Are you getting any error messages?

The below link will help you trouble shoot.
Bradley FAQ's

Open the cabinet door, and make sure the connections on the element are secure. If they are secure, open the generator and check for loose connections. There are detail instructions on how to open the generator in the link provided above. Here is a direct link to it:
