I have a 10" Cabela's "commercial grade" slicer and I am very happy with it. I had one of the smaller cheap ones previously that my wife had gotten on sale at Menards (I think it was the Weston 7.5" that Cabela's also offers) and it just didn't do the job. It was very light weight with suction cup feet that wouldn't keep the slicer stationary while trying to use it, so like Saber said it took one person to hold the slicer in place while another person operated it, and it was so underpowered that it would barely cut boneless cooked ham. This 10 inch has done everything I have wanted to do with it with zero problems. It came with a cover and sharpener. The blade guard and food carriage both remove easily for cleanup. I got it on sale and between the sale price and bonus bucks (I have a Cabela's club card) I think I got it for around $250 and I couldn't be more pleased. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from the little cheap ones.

I don't have experience with Cabela's, but I will echo tailfeathers' comments, I don't think this is an item to cheap out on.  When I was shopping for one, my wife insisted that if I was going to get one it should be good quality.  We ended up getting a 10 inch Italian made commercial slicer.  I probably should have gotten a 12 inch but this one can slice most anything.  I'm very happy with the unit, we can slice at full speed, no problem.  The design is great, it can be dismantled easily for cleaning and the blade can be sharpened effortlessly.  I'm frugal by nature but my wife will tell me when to spend and when to search for a bargain.  She was right...this time.

Thanks everyone! It will used mainly for bacon and jerky. I'm def staying away from cheaper stuff! There are so many out there I'm just looking for ideas! Thanks again!

The slicer I use for my bacon is a $15 fold up plastic Rival slicer I bought at Walmart! It is the best one I have found so far for slicing bacon.

I have the Cabela's 12" commercial model that has worked great on everything that I have put on it from bacon to boneless ham.  I also have a Weston (I think) 7 1/2" slicer that I use on smaller stuff.  The big one naturally works much better but is a bear to pack up and down the basement steps.  Doesn't take much longer to clean up the big one and the cover and sharpener that comes with it is definitely a plus.  The big one does make a mess on the counter throwing small pieces of meat but from all I have read that is pretty much the nature of the bigger more powerful slicers of any brand (half freeze the meat and it makes the job easier and neater).  Just some observations hope it helps in your decision!
