How do you change it show oven temp?  The meat temp is the one lit up

The display on what? The BDS only shows cabinet temps, not the meat temp unless I'm missing something

Hi chadp;

Welcome to the forum.

The way Bradley labeled the display is confusing. The label "Oven Meat Temp", is the current temperature reading of the cabinet (oven). It has nothing to do with the meat temperature.

Well that is what I kind of thought, but at one point it was doing something strange.  It was showing two tempratures and would light up between the "Oven" and "Meat" display.  When oven lit up it would read 201 and when meat lit up it would read like 74.  It stopped doing it after a while and just lit the "meat" display up. It, however was not even close to the box temp.  I think I may have a bad temp sensor.

Also, if it only tells you the box temp, why is there a "meat" display?  And why is that the one that is always lit?

The ability to show the meat temp was for future upgrades.  Your display should only be showing one temperature, the oven temp as there is no way for the Bradley to monitor the meat temp.  If your display was toggling back and forth between 2 temperatures it sounds like your smoke generator has a problem.

I would contact the good folks at Bradley.  They'll make it right.

Kind of related. Is there a way to set up a thermometer to check the meat temp? (using the original display) If so a link or a kick in the right direction would be awesome!

Not that I know of.  If you look up at KyNola's post, it indicates that the function that you would like is being considered by Bradley and may be available in the future.

In the mean time, many folks here use the Maverick 733 wireless thermometer, or something similar from other vendors.  I think this is better than a meat thermometer built into the smoker because I can monitor the internal temp of what I am smoking from anywhere in the house.  Not just while I'm standing in front of the smoker.  The Maverick is just the ticket when I have a serious appointment with the NFL and the Lazyboy.  The Maverick receiver unit goes on the end table and when I want to know how the smoke is progressing, I just glance over at the current temp reading.
